A sister of someone already on the team?

Orginally a Tenn signee, and a massive get for them, but when we beat Tenn by 43 last February it set the wheels on motion for this, after the game their coach complained they were all quitters, so all the returning players quit and transfered out after the season and Edwards decommited and commited to us and fills a big need!

She had eight points, 9 rebounds, two blocks and one steal in 15 minutes during the McDonalds all American game and has been dunking since she was a sophmore in HS.

It's 2024 all over again. Dawn's hardest job will be managing the depth. The only position where we can stand some more depth is PG. As it stands, we can't afford for Maddy to get hurt this year. We do have one roster spot left, so we could use a depth piece at PG, no big name like a Kiyomi McMiller or anything like that, just a depth piece to give you 10-15 minutes if necessary.

I think we are the favorite. There will be no Lauren Betts type player in WBB next year. Texas is damaged. LSU will be good, but we are better upfront. UConn will be good, but we just handled them and I think our roster has improved over last year. Then you have teams like Michigan, Louisville, Duke, Vanderbilt and Washington who make up that second-tier with one of them making a push to the Final Four this year.

The Power of Dawn Staley in this NIL/portal world is the difference between our beloved Lady Gamecocks and virtually every team in the country ... I do wish we had a 6'6" with size (Tac is not that player, talent wise and hopefully Ali T. will add about 15 lbs. of muscle). Also, this does make me wonder about Watkins and is she really returning. If so, we will also have 3 players that can dunk the roundball ... remember when you had just 1 or 2 in the entire sport that could dunk?!? Go Lady G's ....

Southern Cal will be loaded but with adequate PG play and 3 pt shooting this might be Dawns most talented team.
Yep, forgot about them. They have elite talent and JuJu is coming back this year. I don't like their coach. I thought she could have gotten more out of that team with the talent she had without JuJu. Team runs too much isolation offense and becomes easy to guard at times.

The good thing is no one will have that this year. Trygger, from Washington, is 6'6" but she is not physical and likes to hang out at the 3 Point line. I guess the closest thing to a True Center will be Sienna Betts or the Vukosa kid going to UConn, but both are only 6'4" and Vukosa sort of likes to hang out at the 3 Point line too.

Isn't Audi Crooks a true center, but maybe she is more wide then tall? Just 6-3

Also, took the money instead of going to a contender. I don't see Oklahoma State as much of threat. Rumors are she got 1.4 Mil.

Oklahoma State was 24-10 last year and lost in the second round of the NCAA tournament but did lose to UCLA.

They got the top 2 portal players, I think they will be pretty good in 2026-27, but time will tell, they sure are trying and spending the $$

Everyone off that team transferred. They did get Crooks, Liv McGill, and a shooter from Utah. It may make them competitive in the Big 12, but that's not enough to be a serious national contender. Go look at On3 Women's Basketball Transfer Portal Tracker. The Cowboys have no holdovers to help the talent that is coming in.

I don't know how it will all mix together, but Tennessee is getting some very nice pieces out of the portal. I guess they could offer money and opportunity given that their who roster left. UCLA is getting some nice pieces too. It won't be the experience and large talent of last year, but their portal additions will make them formidable again.

I was thinking LSU was setting up to take a step back with Flau'jae Johnson graduating. She was really the only player that seemingly could score at will against us. Looking at LSU's roster, they really dont have much size next year and they really didnt do much in high school recruiting for 2026. I think they only have 3 or 4 players 6'-2" or taller. We have like 7 or 8.

I think the Lady Gamecocks will continue to be the runaway favorite next year with Texas, LSU, Oklahoma, and Vandy being on that 2nd tier and then everyone else. I dont think Tennessee is going to be much better next year, their coach is probably on borrowed time.

We agree to disagree, they will be favored to win the Big 12, A lot of transfers out, but they did keep Stailee Heard, the rising senior is a two-time All-Big 12 selection.

Your making me read alot of Oklahoma State articles, :) but after my research i think Im right, they will be very good, they got the dominate center and I like what they did surrounding her with Sharp Shooters.

Time will tell, article from the new york times, Im not the only one that has high expectations

Oklahoma State

No team made a more precipitous jump from irrelevance to contenders for a deep NCAA Tournament run than Oklahoma State with this portal haul. Cowgirls coach Jacie Hoyt’s team lost nine players to the portal and graduated another two, returning just Stailee Heard. The rising senior is a two-time All-Big 12 selection, but it’s hard to put together a competitive team (or a team at all) with just one player and three incoming freshmen.

Hoyt’s early transfer portal signings weren’t splashy, but they had a theme — elite 3-point shooters. Ellie Brueggemann (Lindenwood), Talexa Weeter (Division II Fort Hays State) and Nene Ndiaye (Rutgers) all shot better than 40 percent from long range last season. Hoyt then signed Florida transfer Liv McGill, the high-volume shooter who’s an asset in the paint and in transition. But what really elevated Oklahoma State’s ceiling was center Audi Crooks’ decision to sign with the Cowgirls. With Crooks operating in the middle, 3-point shooters spacing the floor and McGill working in between, the Cowgirls became an exciting team in the span of two weeks.

In: Audi Crooks (Iowa State), Liv McGill (Florida), Ellie Brueggemann (Lindenwood), Talexa Weeter (Division II Fort Hays State) and Nene Ndiaye (Rutgers), LA Sneed (Utah)

Out: Achol Akot (North Carolina), Amari Whiting (Iowa), Jadyn Wooten (TCU), Macey Huard (Washington), Faith Acker, Praise Egharevba, Tyla Heard, Lena Girardi (Utah), Favour Onoh

Any football, baseball, men’s basketball positive news? You know…the stuff that matters.

Since there isn't any positive news, it doesn't matter.

We suck so bad at men's sports, I am beginning to think our players are on a steady diet of soy products and weed.

Good enough for a 2nd Round Exit in the NCAA Tournament. I'm just not as high on Crooks and McGill as you are. One just led her team to a First Round Exit and the other led her team to a 12th Place Finish in the SEC. Both put up stats, but they are not the type of players that are going to have Gamecock fans shaking in their boots.

Why did you include baseball in there. They are a non-revenue sport too and we don't even provide full scholarships to all the players.

Surprised to find that it's still a maximum of 11.7 scholarships per team at the DI level. I thought ther was more, especially with NIL in the pixture.

Kitts will be back right? With TJ, Edwards, Maddy, and Ashlyn Watkins could be a formidable first five. Then you have all the talented pieces behind them to move around and figure out. Dawn will have a stacked hand to play with that’s for sure.
