Mason Williams is a STAR

Why do you think his only job is to feed bigs? This isn’t that type of offense. He just has to play within the concept of the offense, just like Butler did and also like Williams is doing now.

and if anyone else wants to "feed the bigs" so to speak, can you run down to Wendy's and pick up my (@chattanogawildcat) mom a Baconator, a large fry, and an oreo flurry?

and then can you come back home and cram it all into her big fat *******? and then wait for it to burp. trust me.

Not his only job, but certainly was part of his highlight reel and why we signed him. We didn't sign him to be soft getting to the basket.

I would like to see Alex Wilkins at point and Williams at two. User Zoom for breathers, defense, and special situations. That would give us the distribution we need and let the offense be an offense, rather than a grind with Momcilovic pinging highlights occasionally even though we haven't really given defenses any reason to let him see daylight.

Pope will have no choice when the regular season starts but to start Williams.Sec guards will turn Zoom over and expose his lack of ball handling and over dribbling without penetration to the point of total embarrassment.

That's a recipe for an undefeated season

I said on here before the season started that he was going to play more than what people think, talked about his dribbling ability after watching a few of his videos. I said there's no way his dad wouldn't have him ready to play at this level.

He may be one of the few bright spots on another typical Pope like season. The guy pumping up zoom to be like 14 loss aberdeen is a good one too.

Its early but I think its pretty clear he's the most physically gifted guard we have and it isn't close. Im sure he will have his ups and downs but physically he will be the only guard that can compete in higher end games.

Zoom cant beat his man off the dribble, which is going to be a huge problem. Wilkins absolutely must get better shot selection or he's going to shoot us out of some games.

Should 100% start over zoom, he is a pro
He is and will be a star going forward. So poised and knows the game extremely well. I love him off the bench though for now. Let’s him settle into the game and see how it’s being played. Zoom I think will be fine once he finds his role. He’s still searching for it and that’s fine. Got 3 more games to find it before Kansas. Biggest thing I’ve seen is zoom is reluctant to shoot right now. He passed up multiple good 3’s to drive. Have to just shoot it. Mason got on him once for it I know. Those 3 can be a great trio and if Morton comes back our defense gets better as it will with Kam too

Pope isn’t going to bench Diallo or Wilkins to start Williams considering what those two are making in nil.
All about who is getting the most and most crucial minutes. Mason and Alex will get those imo unless zoom gets better. Who starts isn’t a big deal

Some of those experts where trolls, this board is loaded with trolls.
That’s a fact. I got laughed at when I said he would be getting big minutes and was a huge steal. He just didn’t play big circuit basketball so his ranking was low. He dominated 5 star kids when he competed against them. Mo brought him along the right way.

diallo will probably get the remaining exhibition game and start the first 3 regular season games. we will probably see more of the same stat line. 6-8 points, unable to create any offense, less than 2-to-1 assist to turnover ratio. when we lose to kansas, lets hope pope makes the switch to mason as the starter.

lets hope kam williams is back sooner than later as well. i think he needs to be our starting SG. let diallo and wilkins come off the bench. i'll bet morton will be better/more consistent than these two guys

It was a few years ago to our fans.
Yea that was different though. That was 2 guys and 2 1st rounders vs a guy who was good at absolutely nothing except being John Caliparis players son. Mason will get his minutes. Even in an exhibition pope showed he will sit someone down for bad plays. He sat Alex as well and he responded with locking down on defense.

He just needs to start shooting the open shots he keeps passing up. He hit a 3 first game when he was open and he’s a good catch and shoot shooter according to %.

Nobody pumped up Zoom to be "a 14 loss Aberdeen". WTF?

Also, in case you didn't realize this, this is a team game, but for some reason, you think the 14 losses are on Aberdeen???

This might be one of the dumbest posts I've ever seen you make.

Did Aberdeen improve last year, or not? That's what was said, but you had to do what you miserables do every day on here, twist things to fit your agenda.

Aberdeen was *** in November and December. He turned an easy win over uNC into a loss by failing at hero ball, then, couldn’t even get the ball over half court against Saint Johns, but by January, he was doing a great job running the offense.

But way to be a stick in the mud. Good job.

on a neutral court uk loses by 5-10 points. it was tech's first exhibition game and they ran better stuff all night, got higher quality looks. this uk team is going to get wrecked on the road. every game is losable. diallo/wilkins are just not good enough. the team is supposed to be a great 3 point shoot group....been terrible through two games.

Not mad at all Jeff.

Im not gonna overreact to an exhibition though. Win or lose. I will say the board hasn't went full crazy like after the fluke Purdue win last year so thsts progress.

If we beat Kansas, ill be impressed and give some well deserved kudos. Until then, im in wait and see mode. I like Williams so far and Mom needs way more shots as he is clearly our best player. Other than that, havent seen much to make me think this is on paper anu better than the overall average of the first 2 teams. But we will see when the real games start.

They took a lot of shots we wanted them to. Floater after floater are shots we wanted them to take. Then in second half we made them take a lot of contested 3’s over our length. They had to work very hard for looks. Tech is supposed to be good shooting too and they weren’t. We are 36% from 3 through 2 games. That will go up as Milan and others get comfortable

Go back and look at your condescending posts. You wanted so bad for us to lose last night and you're obviously upset that we won. You wanted to come in here and trash the coach and players. Better luck next time.

No, nobody is overreacting to the win, but don't get it twisted, TT threw everything at our guys last night, both teams wanted to win, so it wasn't some meaningless exhibition.

Pope made great adjustments and against a TT team that will always have a great defense, we ran an effective offense.

Problem for you and Wildcat in DC is, you both talked negative smack all summer long and you know you can't just do an about-face, because it's a bad look for you, so you have to keep up the schtick. Good luck with that.

I predicted a sweet 16. Thats high praise for a Pope team.

We arent winning the sec, sec tournament, Making the final 4 or winning the national title. When we dont win anything that matters yet again, u will be here defending ur boy. Saying he needs another few years.

And u are ok with that. Such a loser mentality u have when it comes to Pope.

Out of the two of us, you are the one that looks like the loser. All you just did, was act like a complete downer. You have no idea what's going to happen this year, none.

Way to go out on a limb and predict UK won't win the SEC, or the national title. Well damn, only 1 team gets to do those things. How generous of you.

And for the record, again, I have said a million tines, Pope ain’t the guy, but I hope he is and he has this year to prove it. This is a good team, no excuses, get it done. That doesn't mean he has to win the SEC, the SECT, or the NT, but he needs to be a serious threat to do those three things. Too much money is involved now.

One of the many differences between you and me is, I'm hoping Pope wins every game he coaches, you're hoping he loses and that’s pretty sad. You wanted us to lose last night, that is very obvious.

respect has nothing to do with it. the numbers are what the numbers are. being willfully ignorant to them will only go so far. but it will all end the same 5 months from now

Their 3 point shooting percentage through the 2 exhibitions has been 36.53%. That would’ve been 40th best in NCAA last year and 10th best power conference team. For comparisons sake we were 168th last year.

Both games we’ve been awful in the first half which makes it feel worse
