In the midst of the current Covid spike, i flew to Florida (Covid Central) last week with one of my kids on a college visitation trip.
Our departure airport required us to wear a mask as soon as we walked in. Frontier Airline required us to mask. Our arrival airport in Florida required us to mask. Rental car agency claimed to follow Covid cleaning protocols for the cars. Hotel encouraged masks. The restaurant we ate at did not require masks, although the wait-staff wore them. The first college we visited did not require masks in any of the buildings we toured. The next day, the second college we visited required us to wear a mask everywhere, even in the Dining Hall for our free meal, except while actually eating. The restaurant we ate at that evening did not require masks, although the wait-staff wore them. On the return trip, due to weather, we got stuck an entire day in our departure airport, and had to mask up the whole time. Southwest Airlines required us to wear a mask.
i am fully vaccinated and wore a double-layer cloth mask with a filter insert and nose-fitter. i find the mask to be uncomfortable and inconvenient, but it's not a big deal to me to put it on for a while when around other people.
It's an inconsistent hodge-podge out there regarding the masks. i believe businesses should be free to either require or not-require masks, and post their policy so folks can be free to then either patronize or not-patronize that business.
