Just out of curiosity, how did Lincoln North Star end up with what seems like a mascot identity crisis? Are they the Navigators or the Gators? Those are completely different things. Or are they a Gator who is a Navigator?

According to the school website they are officially the Navigators because the North Star has been used by navigators as a guide throughout history. The mascot symbol is an alligator called NaviGator but I also remember seeing it as Al Gator somewhere. It is explained on their school website. Use the about tab and go to LNS lore.

Thanks for the information. I have also included the link for other people to read.

Very bizarre mascot. Just being a Navigator would be better. Instead they are a Gator who navigates. Weird haha.
