all it takes is one nut to make up something like the ok sign is a sign for white supremacy and then if it sticks it spreads like wildfire but in reality it has no validity except some person said so
I agree. When my kids are playing sports, I have given them the "OK" sign since birth. I'm not going to change that because one person one time tried and failed to make it into a W/P symbol. So I'm with you on that.

With that said, it was never associated with Nebraska, so it doesn't warrant press coverage. I'll give ten bucks to the first person who can find any reference anywhere in a media guide, fan guide, old news clippings, old photos, videos, or anything else showing that "OK" was ever a sponsored hand symbol like the "hook 'em" at UT, guns up at TTech, etc. Because it was never a thing.

A little change here, a little change there. Before you know it we're living with no checks and balances, a book of rules to follow thicker than you are tall and wondering who the hell we even are anymore and where it all went wrong. Obviously just a mascot but it's one small thing in an ocean of many..

That old boy holding the corn is a tough looking Hombre! 👌🏻
I really think at the time the 1974 Cartoon character wasn’t suppose to make as big a hit as it has 48 years later..

The legend one that bugeater is showing was from the 1960’s and that last till the late 60’s and early 70’s with a guy in a suit with a red cowboy hat on and it even roamed the sideline in the 1970’s during the national title years..

We all have to ban together in every community and state in this country and vote out scum like AOC. The radical left needs to be slaughtered in 22.
The mascot crap is just people with no life looking for something to complain about.

I hate what our world is becoming.... this "woke" garbage everywhere you turn is so ridiculous... now its a white supremecy sign that Herbie the cartoon was gesturing all these years... i got a signal for anyone who agrees with this BS and its the family friendly middle finger dont care what anyone thinks either
Maybe, just maybe you should be mad at white supremacists for co-opting the sign.

Extremists are loons. You don't allow their actions to dismantle society as the left enables with their crackpots.
Your mascot was just giving the ok sign. He's not a white supremacists so why should he be treated as such. It's ridiculous.

Did you associate the hand gesture on Herbie to be anything more than what it was 2, 3 years ago? The fact that the hand gesture was around in the 70's and 99% of people would never tie it to some idiot hate group to this day says it really is nothing. UNL did the usual Brave Sir Robin for the 1% who may be offended by such stupidity. If people can't figure out what is real and what isn't, shame on them.
1% is very high... maybe .000001% or 1 person per game watching on television is closer.👌

They didn't. This whole thing was just a elaborate troll from a reddit page. Some dude, as a joke, said they should see how many people they could convince that the symbol is a racist code sign.

He's got to be laughing his *** off.

It reminds me of the lady who posted people eat 7 spiders in their sleep each year. Everyone took it as fact, and a lot people still believe it today.

Geez…get over it. Like any of you even ever would’ve noticed they changed it if there wasn’t some announcement about it. Talk about people getting “outraged” over nothing….
Not the Husker's fault that some group of nuts adopted that symbol. No big deal making a change. Much more important stuff to worry about than this.
