Charlie Strong set Texas back a decade.
Strong didn't do bad as a recruiter, just not up to Longhorn standards and declining every year.
His first recruiting class (2014) was rated 7th in nation.
2015 Texas was 12th.
Moving downwards to #20 in 2016, but still considered the best class of the B-12 that year.
Strong just couldn't bring home a winner and it seems that he wasn't turning the HS players he recruited into the type of college talent that would make Texas' opponents fear the Horn.

Give me a break...weather delay. It's not even raining. I looked at the radar and most of the heavy stuff is to the south of DC no where near College Park

The game wasn't in College Park; it was at Fed Ex Field (Redskins) in Landover, about 15 miles southeast.

Also, "rain delay" is a misnomer. The game was stopped due to lightning strikes in the immediate vicinity. It wasn't even raining when officials cleared the field and the stands. Then, the skies opened up and it poured rain, in buckets, for a good amount of time. From there, once the rain stopped, it took a bit long for officials to let folks return, in my opinion, but the initial suspension was justified.

Let's see how much swag they have once they finally get around to firing everyone

The only firable one the team cares about is DJ Durkin, who has already been removed from the team. There is no love in the program for the current AD or president, who will likely be gone (and should be).

I wouldn't be expecting their swagger to be going anywhere anytime soon...

Matt Canada looked very composed and in charge at the post game presser.
Question is does anybody from current staff survive if the toxic culture accusations prove true. Canada has been with team since January, correct?

The reporter for the game said there was quite a bit of booster support for Durkin and also from players/families within team but there's still a lot of investigating left and that it could take a 2-3 more weeks. Even if there's solid support for Durkin not sure it will save him but that would make me think the trickle down is less likely and he might be just the head to roll.

The toxic culture charges have always been nonsense. But the ones who should have known what to do for Jordan but let their machismo get in the way will not survive this, nor should they, and will probably never work in this field again. My hope is that the ones who did not address the tragedy head-on from day one also get their pink slips. That might include Durkin, although we don't yet know what Loh (who took charge immediately) told everybody to say or do.

Canada is well-loved by all. Yeah, January sounds right for when he came on board. Since he's never been a head coach, I'm personally amazed at how easily he slipped into the role and how well he handles himself and represents the program. Humility is one of my favorite traits...

ETA: in my opinion, the best player interview for getting a feel for the culture under the current staff was with DeAndre Lane. He was quite frank, some negative and some positive, about his experience in the program. In particular, he made same damning and shocking statements about how he'd been treated (inexcusably) by the head trainer...

Well loved by all? That's new, he's generally known for his prickly personality and not getting along well with others basically don't mess with my offense and how I call it. From what I've read humility isn't a word used to describe him but who knows maybe being the head man gives him the freedom he's wanted or maybe Durkin gave him that freedom as well.

Yeah, I had all the same preconceptions, which is why I am amazed. Maybe the glow will wear off, who knows? It didn't hurt that everybody was looking for a leader during hard times. A lot of people took comfort in watching the laid-back man in the straw hat during August..

I think if there's a lightning strike with in such and such radius of the stadium they automatically have to wait like 30-45 minutes without one before restart. If another one happens the clock gets reset. I think there's a storm in the vicinity so that's the problem.

The OSU/Oregon State game had an hour plus delay as well.

While the halt was due to lightning, it rained shortly afterwards, and like cats and dogs for close to half an hour. For the duration of the game, every time a player's shoe, a ball, or a body hit the turf, a huge splash of water flew up. For such a brief storm, it was fierce -- but the lightning, and only that, caused the delay.

I didn't but I did read some stuff this morning and the bloom is quickly coming off Herman's rose in Texas. I liked him since he was OSU OC and he did a nice job in Houston but like I say you never know how a guy will do when he steps up a level. Still only year 2 though so he's got time to right ship yet.

Agree. big boy seat is much different show

He looked like ww1 shell shocked vet. eery
Yea it is different. I mentioned earlier in thread about something Wanny said during the delay about Texas not being explosive etc.. I agreed with that. Since the last handful of years probably going back to Brown I don't feel they have "it" for whatever reason. TCU, Baylor, OK. State, OU all recruit the same territory and have had their share of explosive teams over the years.

Texas somehow is missing it or at least it feels that way probably since Colt McCoy. I suppose finding a reliable qb since is part of that. The other schools in the area have seemed to do a better job of replacing qbs in their systems.
