Probably. Good news
Does this mean Martinez will be starting?
Sounds like Vedral had been practicing with the ones Mon and Tues. Not sure about today.Probably. Good news

Yeah. But if AMart is practicing in full pads and without a brace, guaranteed he is our starter.Sounds like Vedral had been practicing with the ones Mon and Tues. Not sure about today.
I don’t think there is enough of any of those things to n the world to put me back in shape!!!It's amazing what an ice bath, Icy Hot, and some ibuprofen will do! Oh, and a day or two of rest.![]()
Maybe it is to throw MN off. Pretend he is 100% good to go. Have them prepare for him the rest of the week. Only to play Vedral? Martinez could hardly put pressure on it on Sat. Usually those type of injuries don't heel up in 2 days.Yes, that uh.....thats great news.
It's amazing what 40mg/day of prednisone will do for a guy. Makes you pretty angry usually too. Perhaps we should run a dose pack through all of our guys Friday and Saturday morning.I don’t think there is enough of any of those things to n the world to put me back in shape!!!
He can be standing in full pads during stretching for all the media to see. He can also be standing on the sidelines in full pads and not actually practicing when the media leaves. I am hopeful but not reading anything into this until kickoff on Saturday. Winking

I just hope some people aren’t disappointed if Vedral comes in for an entire game and isn’t all that. I really am surprised how many feel as though Vedral will clearly do better than Martinez.I am happy the injury was nothing serious. Martinez is a good person and represents NU well. With that said, he is in some kind of regressive funk right now. I know it's not entirely his fault as our offense as a whole has its issues that are sort of contributing to it. But the question I have is how long will Frost give him to find that level we all know he has the potential for? We can talk about how much more talented he is than Vedral all day, but the fact is we are not seeing it on the field. Vedral looked far more poised and confident from the little we did see of him. He may not be the fastest guy out there but he has a quick first step. He may not have the strongest arm either, but he gets the ball where it needs to be and is comfortable with taking shots downfield. However, the biggest reason I want Vedral to get more playing time if not start is because he knows Frost's system so well and I believe he has more upside than Martinez in terms of making it run efficiently. When he was operating it, I got glimpses of the offenses Frost oversaw at Oregon and UCF.
This. Exactly.I just hope some people aren’t disappointed if Vedral comes in for an entire game and isn’t all that. I really am surprised how many feel as though Vedral will clearly do better than Martinez.
I agree AM is not the same AM from last year. But keep in mind, just because he is struggling doesn’t automatically make Vedral better. Vedral has looked good in the spots he has come in, but those are such short showings that we may not have seen all we need to see to make a judgment on his play.
I am not convinced that he won’t turn the ball over (anyone else nervous about that backward pass last Saturday?) or make other mistakes. I liked his decisiveness with the zone read, and liked how quick he hit it. But he was only 2-5 passing as well, which isn’t lighting it up. Maybe with 6 more passes in the game he goes 8-11, who knows? It’s just a small sample size so far...

Because like everything else on the internet or social media these days, it can't just be an off day or a few bad plays or a offense that turned over many of its key players from last year or a combination of those things.This. Exactly.
I don’t understand the Martinez hate by a few on here.
You may be right, but how do you know this? He threw 5 passes saturday, only 1 was downfield.Vedral gives best chance to hit down field.
Once again, exactly right. How in the hell can he say such a thing based on one frigging pass? Martinez clearly has the stronger arm and, when given time, has proven to be a highly effective vertical, downfield passer. You may be right, but how do you know this? He threw 5 passes saturday, only 1 was downfield.
What makes you say that?Vedral gives best chance to hit down field.
Like I said, he may be everything your heart desires, but the sample size is so small, so how do you know?2 of those 5 were throwaways.
Martinez has thrown the ball backwards before. Perhaps it's by design.
Completion percentages are skewed compared to 20 years ago due to the swing pass and bubble screens.
Vedral doesn't spazz out. Maybe Martinez will stop spazzing out, but I doubt it happens Saturday.

Jeans For Prezident !!!I dont care who starts.
Just find a way to win.
I think this is my biggest concern too. I am not clamoring for the backup QB. I do not think Vedral is a better QB than Amart. But if AMart is hobbled I do not want him in there. Plus he might aggravate the injury. I just don't want to see happen what Pelini did with TMart, allowing him to play on one leg.A 100% AMart is a better option than Vedral. But an 80% AMart?
That is because you are looking at it emotionally. Stats don't really back you up. His 2018 QB rating was 139.5. His 2019 rating is 140.9. He is also averaging 1 more yard per reception than 2018. He rushed 140 times in 2018 for 629 yards (4.5 yd per carry) or roughly 12 attempts per game. In 2019 he has rushed 85 times for 341 yards (4.0 yd per carry) or 14 attempts per game. Last year he had 5 picks through 6 games and this year he had 5 picks through 6 games. He has 2 fewer TDs. His completion percentage is down from 64 to 60 this year.I get what you're saying and don't neccesarily disagree, as players and coaches are under much more of a microscope nowadays thanks to the internet and social media.
On the flip side, though, I have a hard time chalking Martinez's play up to "a bad day."
So, so this. That is because you are looking at it emotionally. Stats don't really back you up. His 2018 QB rating was 139.5. His 2019 rating is 140.9. He has also lost his center, his best WR and his most dependable RB. So his stats really don't justify the irrational hatred he is getting.
He is running tentative at times and he is holding the ball when maybe he should scramble. He is getting tunnel vision at times. He is also playing in his 2nd year in a tough conference that is now game planning him and taking away his favorite options.
And while we might be struggling a lot this year so far, we are winning close games including a road game that we would have lost last year. He doesn't deserve any more flack than anyone else does on offense.

Yes his left knee. It got rolled up on at the 11:17 mark in the third qtr on a pass to Robinson. Then of course with :19 left in the 3rd qtr. Had ice on it the rest of the gameWas it Martinez’ knee? I thought it may have been more of the ankle that got caught under the defender?
It was mentioned this is the last game before the bye week, which is worth noting.
I don’t want to play Martinez if he’s still hobbled/limited. If Vedral isn’t better than a one legged Martinez, then that’s a problem. I remember that happened with TMart and it was hard to watch.
I also really hope Spielman gets to play in front of his hometown.
Nobody hates him, they just want him to get right mentally and nobody really knows how to force that to happen. So some people are wanting him to take a week if that's what he needs to get right mentally and physically. We're all still scarred from watching another QB named Martinez limp around on one leg and make life easy for defenses.This. Exactly.
I don’t understand the Martinez hate by a few on here.
I think "irrational hatred" is a bit of a stretch. Just because someone sees it differently should not be considered hatred. That is because you are looking at it emotionally.
