Great Story. MY Dad (RIP 8 years) was like this guy when it came to MSU. He would go to his shop and work while the dogs played football. Mom said something to him once about refusing to sit with us, and he later told me, "Son, I have just gotten to the point I can't take the hurt of watching them lose games. All I can think as the game goes on is - We are going to lose this."
One of the happiest trips we ever made was one Sunday in 85 and someone said, If we left now, we could make it to Starkville in time to catch the baseball game. 10 of us piled into two cars and took in the game. Will Clark played so well that day and Dad had such a good time. We had been to other MSU ball games, both football and baseball over the years. He told me more than once how badly he wanted to stay home and let everyone else go - then how happy he was when we went together.
He would have probably gone outside for all three of the final three this year. Difference is, now we could have recorded the games for him to watch later.
I'm sure he enjoyed watching from his seat in the sky.
