Mark Stoops signs extension with UK

Well that takes one potential candidate off the list although I never felt he was being considered.
Klieman and DeBoer will be the next ones to get big raises/extensions thanks to us.
Good for him……..for now. Stoops will flame out in the next couple of years because that is what the SEC does to coaches of mid tier SEC programs. Not that he will do a poor job, it just won’t be enough because, ya know, Bama, LSU, UGA, UT, OU and the rest will always be on his schedule.
I know everyone says we have the funds and Trev shouldn’t be cheap. But is it really justifiable to pay Washington $12 million for DeBoer’s buyout, when we paid a guy $25 million for 4.25 years of failure and then paid him another $15 million to leave?
I wonder how much we pursued him, or if other teams were. Stoops wasn’t high on my list. Hope we’re able to get one of Fickell, Kiffen, Rhule, DeBoer or another one or two I’m probably missing. I also like the idea of someone like Georgia’s OC, Todd Monken, over Stoops.
Hmmm… I hadn’t looked at any buyouts, etc of guys but now I am and the buyout looks like it applies if he left before Jan 2023. Interesting.. as that really only covers leaving right at the end of his first year there.
Doesn’t seem likely, but frankly, I like his offense and he’s from South Dakota so this could be a good one.
Personally, I’d never leave big money in Seattle for Nebraska but hopefully we get surprised with him.
Klieman is my next choice of guys that seem plausible… and Leipold seems decent.
I know Leipold isn’t my top choice and people are dogging him now but he literally inherited the worst team is all of the P5 and got them to a bowl in 2 years. And has been without his QB1 for like 5 games before yesterday.
Who knows. At this point I won’t get too mad or excited regardless.. I thought Frost would be a homerun and he was literally the worst sack of **** in all P5
Auburn is another school that’s looking for a coach, why does everyone presume Nebraska was looking at stoops? Probably his agent messing with the ad for a raise.
I think Klieman just did in October. He did get a one year extension I think with the win yesterday
