Dont be ignorant. I never said he wasn't better than Hill. Who said he wasn't better than Hill? There are probably 500 JC QB's in the country that are better than Deacon Hill. Compare his passer rating to other completely forgettable QB 's like Petras, McNamara, and Christiansen. It's no better.
You said he was "on a par with all of the bad QB's that have played for Iowa over the last several years." That includes Hill.

Regarding the other three you mention, I'd gladly take Grono over any of them. Definitely well above them.

I agree with @RagnarLothbrok about the WR talent. The only time I was pissed with the passing game was with one of the 2pt conversions attempts.

-First off if you throw a fade in the corner throw it to your 6'5" WR Vanderzee not KJ Parker.

-Secondly it's a ******** 2pt attempt. You have to make that a competitive throw and give your guy a chance. You can't put that 6 feet out of bounds like MarkG did.

Hill was only playing because he was all that was left. This was about whether or not MG was a good passer. He's not. He's a poor man's Tim Tebow.

If the idea is to win the game, you erase all doubt by not scoring right there. The smarter thing would have been to run it deeper into PSU territory and then go down, but going down was still the right decision. If he scores there he gives the ball back to PSU down by 8 with time on the click and a small chance to tie it up. Very unlikely they score but the chance still exists. He did the right thing.
Absolutely. With the FD secured and PSU out of TO's all that was left was 1 or 2 kneeldowns.

To keep running risks a fumble too.

Agreed. I don't get why people are struggling with this.
Everyone hates our WRs. Not me.
Wetjen is a poor mans Tim Dwight.
Phillips is short but he has moves and his hands aren't KJ-Parker-bad.
Now here's a list of the tall guys: (and I'm only gonna post this 256 more times)
eichmann 6-2
Daytona 6-5
payne 6-3
smith 6-3
stecker 6-4
zee 6-4
It is a fact that 3 of the guys on that list can catch a football.
And I haven't even mentioned Gill, who is a serviceable possession receiver.
Lastly your honor, as much as folks want to hate on our TEs, they are not your usual KF-special steal from the MAC conference. Okay some of them are. But you can't convince me the guys with nice P4 offer lists can't impress on the field.

Petras was actually a very good passer as he demonstrated on multiple occasions. But despite the talent he wasn’t a gamer.

He’s a fullback who can’t ******* pass.

Seems like a good guy and leader. 7 games in and he hasn’t broken 1000 yards. Not even close.

He stepped up and made plays.

We struggled to beat a 3-3 PSU team who fired their coach and lost their star QB….

This won’t work against OR or USC

Agreed. ^^ FWIW, it would be great to see better downfield passing...but that lack isn't all on the QB IMO. But he is a clear overall upgrade from what we had lately at that position.

There is no way we win that game last night withh any of at least 4 Iowa QB's IMO.
I thought he was going to be the Hawks answer to passing issues of past few years. Had no idea of the running ability especially this week after still being banged up. Still time to improve the passing but he and recievers have to step up. Recievers is another issue unfortunately.

He was playing behind perhaps the worst oline in the history of Iowa football.
The 2022 line anyway (except the 1999 line might have been worse.) WR issues in 2022 as well. The line was good in 2020, and it’s amazing how well Linderbaum held things together in 2021.
