What a ******* stud. You are an average Quarterback but one helleva leader and football player. Elite in both of those traits so glad you came here and we would have beaten mighty IU if you didn't get hurt.
I mostly agree, but I don’t know how much we can fairly evaluate him as a passer given how little talent there is in the WR room. I watched a replay of that interception and it looked to me like it bounced right off JG’s shoulder pad and was actually a good throw. Some of his overthrows were also because the receiver wasn’t open and throwing over his head out of bounds was better than a potential INT.

Overall, I have been satisfied with his performance to this point, probably because I never bought into the hype.

I said this as he's an average actual QB but an elite football player and leader AND he can run.

I thought he was starting to get his groove passing before the injury. Last week he was still hampered by the knee and tonight was always going to be tough against Penn State.

Guess I'm saying he has a lot of room, and I think ability, to be even more effective.

Electric 4th quarter run, an all-time Kinnick highlight!

Just glad he is our QB. Let's win the next 2 home games and get crazy!

He's one of the worst passers in P4 and is on a par with all of the bad QB's that have played for Iowa over the last several years.

He’s a fullback who can’t ******* pass.

Seems like a good guy and leader. 7 games in and he hasn’t broken 1000 yards. Not even close.

He stepped up and made plays.

We struggled to beat a 3-3 PSU team who fired their coach and lost their star QB….

This won’t work against OR or USC
He just finds ways to win. I like winners.

He won national championships before, but not with Iowa

maybe millions will get us a win over a ranked opponent.
We’ve got 3 more chances

Oh so not a fan? Go on
I'm just stating facts. He's giving all he's got and seems like a great kid who can deal with adversity, and as we saw tonight he can do some good things with his legs, but he's not a good passer. The very idea that it was Iowa or the NFL is ludicrous. You have as good a shot at playing QB in the NFL as Mark does. There's a good possibility that he will end the season with a passer rating that is on par with or below Spencer Petras. Jake Christiansen, and Cade McNamara. They weren't very good passers either.

With many more wins than all 3 of them. He's a winner

If you don’t recognize that he’s better than someone like Hill, then you are willfully ignorant. It’s not even close. Do we want someone better? Of course.
Dont be ignorant. I never said he wasn't better than Hill. Who said he wasn't better than Hill? There are probably 500 JC QB's in the country that are better than Deacon Hill. Compare his passer rating to other completely forgettable QB 's like Petras, McNamara, and Christiansen. It's no better.

This is all correct, with the possible exception that it might just work against OR or USC. Those are still probably losses, but this team has a really good defense to lean on that will likely keep them in both of those games just as they did the ISU and Indiana games. A few lucky bounces might determine the outcomes of those games if Iowa keeps it close.

His fake and run to pick up the first down on the last series and seal the game was a thing of beauty.
Yah, but too bad he didn't go ahead and score. I'm not a big fan of NOT scoring on purpose, but I know it's the rage, and sometimes it might actually be the smart thing to do, but a TD puts you up 8 with a minute or so to go. But then not scoring is one of KF's favorite things, so there ya go.

I am perfectly happy having a running quarterback. Iowa has lost so many tight games because the opposing quarterback made big runs at crucial times in the game. Nice to have the shoe on the other foot.

I love the not scoring move. It’s has a bit of condescension to it. A little rub in the face pity move.

If the idea is to win the game, you erase all doubt by not scoring right there. The smarter thing would have been to run it deeper into PSU territory and then go down, but going down was still the right decision. If he scores there he gives the ball back to PSU down by 8 with time on the click and a small chance to tie it up. Very unlikely they score but the chance still exists. He did the right thing.
