If the performance of Mark Gronowski hasn’t exposed Iowa football and changes that need to be made to the quarterback position, then I don’t know what will. The guy is a winner, he’s mobile, and a powerful runner. How Iowa can go back to the quarterback model of a Deacon Hill, Spencer Petras, and Cade McNamera at this point? We need a quarterback that can run.

We need a QB that can slow down an opposing offense with less than 2 minutes left and not behind in the game.

i do like gronowski but he let us down big time last night. on the last iowa drive everyone knew how fatal it would be to score and leave 2 mins on the clock. dude should have managed that drive better to score a walk off TD. really hope we find someone better for next year.

Is that really even a viable question? Even the much-maligned Brian Ferentz saw that, which is why he signed mobile guys like Labas, May, Lainez, and Resor, and was recruiting J. Sully.

I think you are actually trying to compliment Brian Ferentz as a quarterback recruiter. Enough said. 🤦‍♂️

Not at all. The guys are mobile, which addressed the one problem you identified. They are lacking, though, in at least one other key area, which is why J. Sully is the only guy among the latter three that Lester wanted at QB. Lester screens much more carefully for the mental part of the game.

More importantly, my point is that if even Brian Ferentz could see that the Hawks need mobility at QB, then your question isn't viable.

Then why did we bring in Cade McNamera and Deacon Hill?!? Hell we were better off running the wildcat and punting than having those guys try and play quarterback.

McNamara is having a solid year at East Tennessee State. Probably his best year since his 2007 year with Michigan.

In fairness " Pepper the Parrot " may be more flamboyant than Herky, pushing Mac to his full potential...
