I've said if it were me, I'd come back (if I hadn't graduated).

My personal preference for my team is Bolden and Briscoe and lets get a new look. It's not about bashing Lee, it's about UK being at full strength and Lee just doesn't make us strong at all.

I honestly think some people are so caught up in bickering and being the top snob know it all "good" fan that they would take Lee and no title over Bolden with one.

Common sense: Lee is a 3 star, was over ranked, and is not really UK material. If he wants to return I hope he's willing to look at himself and put mad hours of work in. No more Goodman articles about how Cal misused him.

I would be pretty surprised if Lee comes back at this point. The Goodman article, the draft talk despite clear evidence he isn't getting drafted, the fact that he will likely get less PT, and the fact that he is allegedly close to graduating lead me to this conclusion. Just seems like it would be awkward and kind of embarrassing for him to return at this point.

Look, if you 100% could go into the crystal ball and tell me that running a kid off to get Bolden means we win it all, it certainly opens up a very interesting discussion.

But since there's no such thing as a guarantee, I think you do the honorable thing and don't run kids off to get better kids. We make fun of/talk bad about Louisville and IU for doing it. We blasted duke for running Thornton off to open up a spot. Now we should do it?

That is not all Lee's fault. He was never used as a needed scorer, he was strictly a role player. Can he shoot, no one really knows. We all thought WCS had no offense either, but he is scoring in the NBA. Granted, Lee will NOT improve by coming back, as he will get even less minutes.

He was never used as a needed scorer because he couldn't do the job. How can you say that a player not improving over a 3 year period isn't the players fault? Im sure he gets the same coaching that the other players get and he got plenty of playing time last year to show what he could do but he just didnt perform. I like Marcus, I think he brings some value to the team but I also believe his short comings are his own. Whether that be because of limits on his skills or work ethic, either way those are on his shoulders and not the coaches. Has his body changed in those 3 years?

From a fans perspective, I'd rather keep Bolden from Duke and have a shot at a real big who can play with Bam. If not, Lee needs to get his head on and stop talking and start producing or he will find himself getting 5-10 minutes next year.

My comment on the title situation was tongue and cheek, but I do think there are PC mania fans who think so soft they'd take Lee even knowing it won't help at all. Anything to be nice. Sorry I'd rather have a better team.

I like Lee, I just like UK more.

And anyway, kids are recruited over all the time. If you aren't recruiting over average players, you're not a good head coach.

Oh for cripes sake, YES, we do know. Does that friggin 38 percent career free throw percentage not tell you anything about his shooting ability? Or the fact that Cal has essentially forbidden him from shooting beyond layup distance? Or the fact that he finished dead last out of everyone at the drills at the combine?

But thanks for the laugh. The notion that, after three years here, it's still some mystery whether Lee's a shooter or not is one of the funnier things I've seen here.

I don't think Cal forces players out, but I do think he's an ego maniac who looks out for UK far more than his coach speak implies. Lots of fans just don't know how to take him. the coach speek and recruiting talk do them in.

I don't consider recruiting over an average player at UK to be a bad thing. Actually great coaches are always recruiting over players. We don't see it as often with UK because of turnover and type of recruits, but in Lee's case, that's what cal is doing. He's recruiting over Lee. And recruiting over does not equal pushing out. In the PC age and faux outrage of today, everyones first reaction to something so simple is to assume horrible things and be offended. This has been a part of college basketball for decades.

Would I welcome Lee back? If he's willing to do what needs to be done and stop talking, sure. Like you I prefer bolden though.

We needed a low post scorer this year more than anything. Why didn't he step up then and be that guy? I love Marcus, but his lack of an offensive game is 100% on him. He had plenty of opportunities to step up and show it this past season when we needed and he didn't.

I'm not sure who thought Lee could ever be a low post scorer. Nor even WCS was able to do that.

You just want Lee to be an energy guy. Play above the rim, run the court, block shots.

Problem is after those first few games, he couldn't stay on the court consistently because he was fouling guys at an unfathomable clip.

But if he came back, got stronger, worked on his game, he still isn't going to be a low post scorer. That's not who he is or will ever be.

I'm glad he's here. Not always consistent but he's come through in plenty of situations when we needed him. That's worth the respect and roster spot. We have big bodies, athletic bigs, whatever we need really. No need to push the kid out.

I am way way way less concerned about Lee vs Bolden than I am about Briscoe.

Our FC will be deep and deadly by March either way, and so will Duke's, regardless of what Bolden does.

But our backcourt will be 5 fouls away from disaster without Briscoe.

Did last year's team not show us a little something about rankings. Skal came in last year touted as the #1 pick in this year's draft. He showed nothing. Humphries was a high 4 star, he gave nothing, Wynyard gave nothing (he was not ready after coming in late).
And still everyone is talking about how a senior to be should just leave because we freshmen coming in again. We need to be more patient and realize rankings do not always mean instant success.

No, but if I had an employee underperforming after multiple chances, I would certainly show them the door. Some people are acting like this is life or death for Lee. It's not. If he can't make it this year, probably not a chance he will ever make it. And he has the option to finish his degree anytime completely free, if he hasn't already done that. He is really in a no lose situation, unlike the throwing him to the dogs that some are proposing.
