Marcus Lee seems like a good person, but I'm ready to move on from his constant underachievement. Unfortunately it sounds like we are going to be stuck with him for another year of worthlessness.

Maybe he'll finally figure out he needs to be able to do something on the court other than be long and springy and he'll actually be more than just a warm body we were forced to throw out there like last year?
What if one of your kids constantly underachieves? Are you going to put him or her up for adoption?

Lee fits the team better next year I think. Play fast! And he is lob catching machine. Bolden looks like he would need to be in a slow down game.

It's so crazy to see people throw Marcus Lee under the bus as if it is assured Bolden is better. It's possible and maybe even probable that's true, but its still interesting to see how everyone is ready to move on from him.
Thank you! Marcus is a person not a thing. We need more folks like you on this board.

Wouldn't mind putting you up for adoption.

Good God...did you watch him last year? For every lob he gets, he gives up 10 points and commits 5 fouls.

I wish Lee nothing but success with whatever choice he makes regarding his future. Not every player turns into a Davis, Randle, Cousins, etc. But a kid with Lee's off-court achievements and activities deserves to be applauded and respected.

Not exactly sure what the point would be for Lee to come back on a basketball level. His game is what it is. His offensive game is broken and he doesn't seem to be all that interested in adding bulk being that his one marketable attribute is speed and athleticism.

Lee's numbers will probably be similar to Bolden as a freshman.
No they wouldn't. I love Marcus Lee and I'll support whatever he decides but the only reason he averaged 6 & 6 last year was because our frontcourt was putrid. This year he'd be fighting Bam, Gabriel, & SKJ for minutes.

I would be nice if we all could follow the old saying: If you don't have anything nice to say hold your tongue. Apply this to comments regarding Ky basketball players.

As fans we should do our part to make our program the best. This might be a good place to start.

I'm glad he's here. Not always consistent but he's come through in plenty of situations when we needed him. That's worth the respect and roster spot. We have big bodies, athletic bigs, whatever we need really. No need to push the kid out.

I don't see anyone being negative to the kid as a person, but as a basketball player the guy just don't have the skills to be what we need or needed him to be.

I say we pull woodchopper or mulders scholarship for bolden. They are dead weight for the program

I don't know if I'd agree with that. Most of the time, I'd take experience over youth.

But what did that experience net us last year when we were on our hands and knees begging any single big to step up and play worth a dang? It netted us 2 fouls in the first 4 minutes of every game and someone with zero offense after 3 years in college.

No, but if I had an employee underperforming after multiple chances, I would certainly show them the door. Some people are acting like this is life or death for Lee. It's not. If he can't make it this year, probably not a chance he will ever make it. And he has the option to finish his degree anytime completely free, if he hasn't already done that. He is really in a no lose situation, unlike the throwing him to the dogs that some are proposing.

I don't think so.

But outside of that, what Bolden will do I think is pull some heat away from Bam. Bolden isn't going to set the world on fire, but if he's at least a presence down there then he can draw the defense and let Bam operate more freely.

We saw last year what having veritably no pivot presence can do. It makes it so much harder for the other guys.

Nubb16...you have a point and i will honor what i said...but lets be honest about the situation...Lee wanted and wants to be gone...if he comes back it is because he has accepted he cant make it at next level....he does not want to be in college

Lee actually helped quite a bit in the first 10 games of the season last year.

Then he turned into a human foul machine.

But if he could somehow bottle those first ten games he could be a contributor. I thought he gave some good things his sophomore year with those freaks.

But the guy just cannot play for sustained minutes without fouling. It got to the point last year where it was almost comical. You want him to be a shot-blocker, but he doesn't have the necessary instincts to be a good defender at his size.

worked out the same for Jorts didn't it? Never improved

Harrellson improved greatly under Cal + he could score inside & out, could use his size to set screens & not be pushed around. Lee can do nothing but dunk.........if he catches the pass. Lee shoots what 35% from the free throw line..........Jorts was about double that.

I always thought Lee made more sense coming back to Kentucky than Briscoe. If we're being honest, at lest with Briscoe you can see why Nba teams might be interested in drafting him later on in the late first round or mid second round of the draft. With Lee, i just didn't see why he would think any Nba team would be interested in his services. I think it's pretty obvious why Cal didn't want Lee shooting the ball. Did you see how the kid shot his free throws? Cal knows what he is doing. If Lee had any offense at all, he would have the ball in his hands more. Lee's offense is catch the lob for the dunk. That's it. That is what you should expect to see next season in limited minutes if Lee decides to come back for another year of college basketball. I don't know what this means for Bolden. It could mean he's going to Duke. I hope not. I hope he's solid with Kentucky and he's added to our frontcourt. He would be a huge help from the get go if he decides to come back to Kentucky. Briscoe is the more important kid we need to have come back than Lee. Not to say Lee couldn't produce for us next season. With limited minutes and touches, Lee could help our team next year. He's been at Kentucky for a while and understands what we want to do on the basketball court.

Lee is a great Kid and Cal will welcome him back in a split second and should. Lee the player is what he is, but Cal and and UK will be loyal to him. No problem whatsoever with that.

Except that Lee hasn't proven to be even slightly driven to improve as a basketball player.
