Let's suppose Lee returns. But Briscoe does not, and decides so before the Bolden decision.
Does that alter whether or not we go for Bolden?
I assume it could alter Bolden's decision (one more guy to compete with for frontcourt minutes).
Would we be better off going for a guard, IF there is a decent one (i.e. graduated transfer)?

The positive to this, if this report is true, we're definitely going to hear something from Lee about whether he intends to stay in the draft or not very, very soon.

He hasn't improved in 3 years

That is not all Lee's fault. He was never used as a needed scorer, he was strictly a role player. Can he shoot, no one really knows. We all thought WCS had no offense either, but he is scoring in the NBA. Granted, Lee will NOT improve by coming back, as he will get even less minutes.

I think there is a better chance of Lee returning than Briscoe. If Lee does not want to come back he would be better off playing over seas somewhere.

Yeah, like today, if he decided he's coming back. But Cal may tell him to hold off until Bolden makes his decision.

Skills development happens in the offseason and in practice. One can improve that without having to do it during games. Games are in fact that last place a player should be putting in the time to develop skills. Think of it like a play, you have rehearsals and what not to work on getting everything right. Once you have it down you put on the play. Then you use the play to evaluate and refine any rough spots.

Marcus Lee seems like a good person, but I'm ready to move on from his constant underachievement. Unfortunately it sounds like we are going to be stuck with him for another year of worthlessness.

Maybe he'll finally figure out he needs to be able to do something on the court other than be long and springy and he'll actually be more than just a warm body we were forced to throw out there like last year?

Lee cancels workout and Boldn decides to announce. Seems like a coincidence, Lee's returning which means Bolden to Duke.

time for Lee to face reality.......he is not a very good basketball player
If he wants to continue & take the next step as he has stated.....accept the D league or over seas
either way time to move on. He hasn't improved in 3 years..........1 more won't make any difference
worked out the same for Jorts didn't it? Never improved

Well this is depressing news for those wanting the best chance of a championship next season.Lee has not improved at all over 3 years and I don't see it happening next season.

I just want him to gain more muscle and weight if he comes back. If he still hanging at 211-215 lbs, then it will be a waste

Soooo

Everyone gripes that we dont have 4 year playsrs.
When the kids aren't good enough to go pro, you post and say he needs to realize he's not
Gonna make it and move on.

The only way you get 4 year players is if they aren't slam dunk pros.

This is all ridiculous.

It's so crazy to see people throw Marcus Lee under the bus as if it is assured Bolden is better. It's possible and maybe even probable that's true, but its still interesting to see how everyone is ready to move on from him.

I've been as frustrated with Lee as anybody, but I hate when "fans" give up on young men who have been nothing but loyal to the program. I have been guilty of it myself. If and I know it's a big if, Marcus can dedicate himself to doing the things we know he can do, i.e. defend and rebound, he can be a nice piece to the puzzle next year. Every one of us wants the next new thing. I have watched Bolden a couple of times and can say pretty assuredly we will have frustrations with him as well. I would love to have Lee and Briscoe come back and roll with it.

Agree 100%. He's been nothing but class for us and IMO, we don't make the Final Four in 2014 without his game against Michigan.
I agree with this entire post, but I still don't think he's a very good player - nothing against him as a person of course.

Probably advice from whoever is going to be his agent. If you know you are not going to get drafted, probably best to wait and try out with teams after the draft. After the draft you may be able to fill a specific need for a team. Either way, I hope it works out for Lee.
