Now when has he ever done that? I kid, I kid. LolI just hope Cal doesn’t put all his eggs on Carr and miss out like a lot of recruits.
My point exactly.. look at his shooting percentage. What happened to loading up with shooters?I'm just tired of guards who can't shoot.
So, with Carr:
Starters
G Carr
G Grady
F Toppin
F Collins
F Tshiebwe
Bench
G Hickman
G Allen
F Hopkins
F Ware
Hopefully we get Mintz and Brooks back as well.
Getting Mintz back will take this team to another level. Not sure were Final 4/Elite 8 good without him unless we can bring another stud transfer inSo, with Carr:

I've started feeling the same way.He shot pretty well at Pitt but it may have have been trying to do too much at Minnesota plus he had a terrible coach with Rick Junior.I’m warming up to Carr.
His SOPh yr at Pitt was at 6 ast/gm and made 36% of his 3’s. I would be happy with that. And no reason he can’t make in the high 30’s of his 3’s.
Mintz will really make it a balanced team. Brooks would be some great depth at the position. So, with Carr:

I'm pro-Carr.
He's not perfect. I'd love to have a Damian Lillard/Steph Curry type guy who just buries threes all day and can drive the ball. We may not find that/land that. So I'm a fan of getting a guy with big time production against Big 10 competition.
Carr can drive the ball. He does something we were sorely lacking in yesterday. He scores the basketball. Yes, he was a volume shooter at MN. I suspect if he comes here he won't be a volume shooter. I think his shot selection will get better, and this will improve his percentages. He's a better three point shooter than a lot of guys we sent out there last year.
Carr/Grady/mintz/Allen/Hickman sounds pretty good. At least 4 shooters we know of. Hickman to be determined. We have to make sure we have players who can set each other up for open shots. If hopkins can be a stretch 4 we are even more dangerous if he can hit that 3. Or Brooks gets better from 3. This could be why cal is trying to get Kessler to give us that stretch 4.Notably, he shot 36% as a sophomore (33% as a freshman) but in his junior year when he shot 32% his attempts went up from 4.6 to 6.5 per game. He wouldn't have a greenlight to fire up 6.5 threes a game here - our point guards do not take that many. Only Knight came close at 6.1 per game and he was a very good shooter we WANTED taking them. With better shot selection he could hit a respectable 35%. He's not an asset as a shooter, but he's not a liability either. He's not Askew/Hagans/Briscoe/Fox level of bad shooter.
His 2pt% isn't great at 43% but it is better than most of what we had last year (Boston 38%, Askew 39%, Mintz also at 43%) but he gets to the free throw line a lot and hits them once there. 6.7 attempts per game last year and hit at 80%. Makes for an ok 52% TS%. He also doesn't turn it over that much - 2.3 turnovers a game while taking over 15 shots and giving out 5 assists. If we're playing two shooters next to him his ability to penetrate and create would be very valuable. Unless there's a clearly superior option out there. I'd be happy with adding him and running with a Carr/Grady/Mintz/Allen/Hickman backcourt.
The Great One has spoken.I am telling you Carr is much better than a lot of you think. You people that think he is no good don't know what you are talking about.
We will be better, but not sure we will be top 20 good.Won't be a Top 10 team or win the SEC. Bama, Ark and UT may be better.
But will we be a good Top 20 team with this roster?
Spot on shot more ft than almost any other top pg hit at 80 percent. Assist to turn over ratio is great. Despite shooting alot still averaged more assists than every Elite pg we had the last 11 years except Wall. Has showed that in a different system with better shot selection as a soph he could shoot 36percent fr 3 which means you will have to guard him. He also won't be the main focus of the other teams defense here like he was at Minn which is another reason to expect him to shoot better. Truth is he is a better option than any hs pg we could recruit for next season. This hs class is weak no Fox, Wall, or knight caliber pg. Home run get if he comes here.I am telling you Carr is much better than a lot of you think. You people that think he is no good don't know what you are talking about.
Unless Cal can figure out how to spread the floor and open up the lane, driving will only result in a block shot or turnover. No PG can drive into a bunch of trees and have success.
Seems like Cal has had plenty of PGs that drive to the basket successfully, not sure what he needs to figure out.

Well said. I am all for Carr as our PG next year. When you look at the options, you have to come to the conclusion that an experienced D1 pg is the best option and any kid you get out of the portal, is going to have at least a little baggage. Any legit pg that doesn't have baggage, is not coming back to college.
Here are our options. Keep in mind, Askew is no longer an option, BECAUSE Cal is obviously bringing someone in that was going to bury Askew on the bench, so if Cal wasn’t going after a legit pg, Askew would not have transferred.
Here are our options:
-another Freshman pg (4* Hickman)
-Askew
-Mintz
-reclass hs junior (Skyy Clark)
-Marcus Carr
-Merrian Jackson (Toledo)
-several lower rated pg's in the portal
To me, Carr is the best option. He has played in the BIG10 and averaged almost 20ppg and 4.5rpg.
While Jackson looks good, consider the competition he was playing.
I think we can all agree that Sophomore Askew is a terrible option.
Do we really want to see another reclass hs kid running the show at UK? No thank you.
Hickman is a 4* kid, he looks good, but can we please be done with these freshman point guards? It's too dicey and even with Fox and Shai, we looked pretty ugly for half the season.
You can't teach experience, this is a fact. Carr can step right in and run the show. If Hickman is as good as some think he is, he will earn minutes, but relying on him to he great, is a bad mistake that Cal can't afford to make right now. If Cal puts all his eggs in the Hickman basket and he doesn't perform well, we're screwed. Yeah, Mintz CAN play the point, but he's not a pg and having him run point, guarantees we will top out at the sweet 16.
If Cal does this correctly, he will have Carr, Hickman AND Mintz.
Some guy on twitter said Kyle Tucker said Carr will be staying in the draft on a talk show.
This is what has been and continues to be mentioned by people close to the Minnesota program. Carr almost didn't come back to school last year. Some guy on twitter said Kyle Tucker said Carr will be staying in the draft on a talk show.
Well ****.Now what? This is what has been and continues to be mentioned by people close to the Minnesota program. Carr almost didn't come back to school last year.
I've mentioned from get go that I expect Carr to focus on NBA so this isn't news.Well ****.Now what?
Askew will transfer back to us now. LOLWell ****.Now what?
No. We will still get Carr.So will Skyy Clark reclass after all?
So will Skyy Clark reclass after all?
If they do, I think they’ll have to wait a while. He’ll test the NBA draft so it may go into June.No. We will still get Carr.
