The two years Gonzaga made the Final Four, this is who they played

16 S Dakota State
8 Northwestern
4 WVU
11 Xavier
7 South Carolina

16 Norfolk State
8 Oklahoma
5 Creighton
6 USC
11 UCLA

I haven't had an issue with Gonzaga but they have not beaten anyone ranked higher than a 4 seed since 2000.

You're normally level headed, but you've gone off the rails in this one.
Really? You’ve never seen a team run the clock out at the end when the last shot is meaningless?

At worst, dunking that ball at the end starts a fight, if the other team decides to challenge you at the rim. Of course Gonzaga is soft, so not much chance of that.

Maybe someone will eventually realize they play in a cupcake conference and are not as good as their record shows each year.

If it was rig why even have tourney, can't believe you honestly believe that .
Do you have any idea how many billions of dollars are bet on this tournament? Why they have it, and why they rig it are closely related.

That was a Doug Shows special tonight. Seen it way too many times.

Gonzaga still could have won though. They didn’t put the ball in the basket. Knock down enough shots and the refs can’t cheat you.

I'm talking about this thread as a whole. You're trying to send referees to jail. Did you go large on the Zags?

Some people are Arkansas fans, and I guess I get it. I also understand hating Gonzaga. But really, I weep for the sport. Crooked refs ruined it long ago, and I keep coming back hoping to watch a fair fight. I hate this.

I know that there were tons of people who picked Duke to win it all purely because they expected it to be handed to them.

I refuse to pick an entire 63 games based upon that premise, but game to game, it’s easy to foretell.

Only one player fouled out of this game. On a bad call, with several minutes left.

Arkansas, whose approach is “hack and grab” only had 3 more fouls than Gonzaga.
Only because Gonzaga intentionally fouled like 5 times at the end of the game

To be fair, when Gonzaga heard the criticism about their weak conference they did start to schedule competitive non conference games. This year they played Duke, Texas, Texas Tech, Bama and so on. I think what happens is still when they get to that weak conference it does little to consistently prepare then for the tournament.

That is the dumbest thing ever, these are college kids having a good time. It would just be awful if they enjoyed themselves out there.

They won’t enjoy themselves when the refs get them in foul trouble early on Saturday.

Musselman will whine and cry like Bo Ryan did when he didn’t get the calls in the ‘15 Championship game.

Yeah it isn’t a criminal offense. But that’s the kind of play that teams like Arkansas make. Teams with class dribble it out. I just don’t like Arkansas. [laughing]
Lol I hear ya . I agree with your other post on them getting a good whistle tonight

Duke has played the top seed possible each game so far, and is playing the best defensive team in the nation tonight… if it is rigged, they are doing a horrible job rigging it.

I hope you are right and Duke loses the game.

Na, I don’t gamble. But you know referees have gone to jail, right?

After years of observation, Doug Shows seems corrupt to me. But I don’t know. Maybe he just keeps making the same kinds of wrong calls over and over in critical situations because he doesn’t know any better.

Maybe he’s just a bad ref. The kind of bad ref who keeps getting key assignments because someone obviously likes what he’s doing on the court.

Guys keep in mind this is a game thread. Emotions run high during live action, and watching Doug Shows mess all over the court gives me flashbacks. [laughing]

Yes and they went 3-2 against legit competition OOC. Should have landed at around #10 and sat there, but no, they were allowed to default their way back to #1 in the polls in that cupcake conference and sit there. Then we get the networks shoving them down our throats; well, they can choke on it now.

Not “only”.

Arkansas easily could easily have been called for 25+ fouls.
I’m talking about the lack of calls on Gonzaga. What I was talking about had nothing to do with Arkansas. With 3or 4 minutes to go there were 3 or 4 team fouls on Gonzaga

Right. THE dumbest thing. Ever. And the thousands and thousands of players who have dribbled out the clock in that situation were all idiots too.

I don’t really care if he dunked. I just don’t like Arkansas. I don’t like their style, and I don’t like their coach.

So I expected them to show as little class as possible, and they didn’t disappoint. [laughing]

Good thread…would read again. Thanks for all the kind words, Kentucky fans. Always a pleasure. Go Hogs.
Williams and Notae will both be in foul trouble Saturday. Unless they play Texas Tech. Don't ask me how I know.

They probably should have had a few more fouls, but they are soft. Arkansas could have had a lot more. And they called fouls on the guy who mattered most.
