Love everything about what she said, her energy each game and their dedication to their son. Anyone who’s a parent can relate and it’s not her fault her son is better than everyone else he steps on a court with and has been his whole life. The thing I’ve noticed with his parents is they root like hell for all his teammates too which is so incredibly refreshing, as is Coops maturity level at his age- clearly set by good examples from his parents.

It's been said on the broadcast multiple times (usually by Corey Alexander who doesn't shut up) but for as close as this Duke team is connected, they apparently have some very connected parents as well. Parents who are close to one another and root for every player on the team with the same passion that they do their son.

I cannot even imagine the microscope the parents of high profile college athletes are under these days, especially with social media. Everyone is connected by there phone and a pic or video post away from the world! Like most other parents who have kids who play sports growing up, I saw horrible fans (parents) even at the middle school level, and it ratcheted right up in high school and AAU. I can't imagine how bad it gets at the Duke basketball level!

Hell, I coached rec league ball, and it was awful there, too. Parents are horrible. Two dads got into a fistfight in the gym, and cops had to be called. It's been years, and I still vividly recall how embarrassing that was. I knew right then I wouldn't be coaching the following season. Not worth it.

When the youth team I coached at the YMCA was assessed a tech foul for parent yelling at an official, I knew it was time to hang it up.
