Umm, NO. Not at all. Very different type of player than Siva. Much more talented scorer, but not as much of pure point guard (Newman really plays more like a shooting guard).

I think the comparison made by one of the announcers today was the best I've seen--Monta Ellis. To me he looks very similar to Ellis in nearly every way--style of play, size, build, athleticism, etc.

I think he was just joking, I hope.

Size and skill wise, Newman is comparable with former SEC guards Bradley Beal and John Jenkins, both of whom became NBA 1st rounders. There isn't a good UK comparison. Doron Lamb was an impact wing guard, but Lamb did not have Newman's strength and skills. Newman is bigger and stronger than Tony Delk or Eric Bledsoe, and faster than Keith Bogans. Newman is exactly the kind of guard that Calipari makes into NBA lottery picks. If we sign Newman, he will have a big impact next year.

Totally disagree. Newman is not close to the shooter that Jenkins is.

JJ and Beal are good comparissons for Booker but not Newman.

Newman is a smaller Terek Evans or Archie Goodwin.

Bledsoe was ripped. Miss seeing that backcourt with him and Wall pulling off incredible plays.

about to say . I have no idea why you think i overinflate things but i find it funny .

But to answer the question

Monte Ellis , JR smith are a few to come to mind . Newman 's game more then any guard in HS translates to league . Why i said everyday that IF they still allowwed straight out of HS to NBA Newman , SKal and Simmons would make it and play some there first year. Everyone else like Brown still have alot of basics to learn .

Jrue Holiday or Tyreke Evans. Could play PG now, can play PG in the future, but he'd much rather be scoring 20 PPG.

It will be interesting, because he's similar to Brandon Knight and Archie Goodwin in that regard, but I think body-wise, more NBA ready. Cal used both of those guys at PG, as he did with Tyreke Evans. However, we KNOW Newman won't see much PG with Ulis and Briscoe.

Ben Gordon. Slightly Undersized SG with remarkable offensive firepower. Would love to see Ulis and Briscoe setting him up.

Ben Gordon never remotely had a chance to play PG, in college or especially in the NBA.

Rodney Stuckey, Tyreke Evans, Jrue Holiday, Monta Ellis, O.J. Mayo, lots of comparisons have been made.

I'll throw my hat in for a name notime mentioned yet. Russell westbrook. Undersized for a pure 2 but not a true definite 1 with offensive fire power for days. Hes not as athletic but how many people can run and jump like Russell anyways? He's strong to the basket too like the bearded wonder at houston.

Newman is bigger and stronger than Monte Ellis was coming out of high school. He's a better three point shooter than Ellis but probably not quite as quick. Newman has a major league scorer's repertoire of step backs and pump fakes. He's also a willing and fairly good passer when he could find someone who had a better shot.

Like all great scorers, when he heats up he can throw them while falling down out of bounds in the corner behind the backboard. He made two NBA 3's in the Hoops classic.

Newman won't either. I gave the most accurate comparison. I couldn't give a ish less about other comparisons that have been made.

There you have it. wcc has confirmed, he is right.

I see the BG comparison, as well.

A young Latrell Sprewell.

Don't really see the Ben Gordon comparison. Gordon was a prolific scorer in college but always kinda lacked that explosiveness/raw athleticism that Newman appears to have.
