In the "air raid" has Leach historically had receivers that racked up individual big stats. We spread it around a lot and throwing the long ball wasn't exactly our QB's strong point .

Crabtree had 134 receptions for almost 2,000 yards and 22 touchdowns….as a freshmen. Dialed back to 97 / 1200ish / 19 TD’s as a Sophomore, but that’s still crazy. He was really damn good.

He was our leading receiver with 989 yards. Next best was Walley with 610. He also led us in catches at 98. Next best was Marks with 79 and the next best receiver was Walley with 52 catches. I hope Walley can be that guy in 2022 after a bit of a sophomore slump this year.

Is yards per reception the singular statistic that determines if a receiver should be drafted? I wouldnt think it is, but the way you are pushing it, it seems you strongly believe so.

Except Crabtree was still the best EVER in the Big 12 over a single season. Crabtree’s freshmen season was and still is the single season record for most receiving yards in Big 12 history. He had 130 yards more than 2nd most (Terrence Williams at Baylor in 2012). For comparison, Dez Bryant’s best season at Oklahoma State was only 1480 yards. The 22 TD’s were also 2nd most in Big 12 history.

Also, Crabtree played way before the trend of hurry up offenses and targeting rules made it way easier to accumulate huge passing / receiving numbers, and yet his record still stands.

No, but just like Rogers inflated stats, there is some eye opening curiosity there. Dude didn't average 10 yards per reception. If that's not the definition of possession receiver, I don't know what is. And those aren't exactly what the NFL is looking for in the draft.

The fact that FORTY guys in the SEC had a better average should cause a little alarm.

Well he was the best receiver we had. Hopefully Heath stays and can get to that level. Definitely more athletic.

He played within a system and what you see in the stats is the result of that system. You are complaining he didnt have more yards after catch or yards per reception, but he didnt choose the routes. He ran the routes that were called and did what he could to impact the game(fight for the ball, run routes well, try to shed tacklers, etc).
If you are saying he sucks at shedding tacklers and therefore should have had more yards, ok then say that and it can be discussed.
But just complaining multiple times that he didnt have more yards per reception is a pretty basic evaluation.
