Greetings fellow football fanatics! It is your Pugnacious Pigskin Prognosticator, Major Amos B. Hoople, here with your Peerless Predictions for Week 12 of the Big 10 season!
Last week I was a respectable 5-2, making my overall record this season 93-17! Hoochie Mama, that is an unheard of 84.5 winning percentage! Gadzooks! <har-rumph>
Let’s see what the old crystal ball has to say this week!
Minnesota at Oregon. The Gophers row their boat Northwest to take on the Mighty Ducks of Oregon. The Quack Attack is fresh off escaping from Historic Kinnick Stadium with a narrow victory. Could an upset be in the cards? Methinks not. <hack-kaff>
Oregon 30 Minnesota 13
Wisconsin at Indiana. Those pesky Badgers managed to pull off the upset last week, while the Hoosiers narrowly escaped one of their own. That may have been Bucky’s last gasp this season. Despite almost stubbing their toe, Indiana seems to be on a mission.
Indiana 35 Wisconsin 10
Michigan at Northwestern. The Eggheads of Evanston have been the surprise of the Big 10 so far. They gave USC all they could handle last week. Meanwhile the Wolverines are putting up another workman-like season, and flying quietly under the radar. It will be another lunch pail game for Michigan. <hep-kemph>
Michigan 24 Northwestern 14
Maryland at Illinois. Nothing to see here folks…move along.
Illinois 38 Maryland 21
Penn State at Michigan State. Both teams are circling the drain. The Toothless Nits are without their head coach, starting quarterback, and wins. Sparty appears still in the doldrums and has made little (if any) improvement this year. Still, Penn State has the talent, and talent will out.
Penn State 23 Michigan State 20
Purdue at Washington. The Boiler train makes tracks out to the Emerald City to battle the Sled Dogs. The Huskies are licking their wounds after being upset by Wisconsin, and are seeking redemption. Purdue just doesn’t have enough coal to fire their burners. <um-kumph>
Washington 27 Purdue 10
UCLA at Ohio State. Can the Bruins derail the Buckeye’s National Championship Express? They did experience a slight bump after parting ways with their coach, but they have not been able to maintain it. There may be a team out there to stop the Buck Nuts, but UCLA is not one of them.
Ohio State 41 UCLA 7
Iowa at USC. The codgers at the Hoople Boarding House will be gathered around the Stewart-Warner R-146A with heaping bowls of Ma Hoople’s chili and buttery pieces of corn bread in anticipation of this gridiron clash. It makes me want to put on my old uniform and re-live my days as an All-American halfback at dear old Yale (sniff). The Trojans are Jekyll and Hyde between playing at home and on the road. This one is at home, so expect USC to look like world beaters. The Fighting Ferentz’s have played Indiana and Oregon tough albeit in a losing cause. Unfortunately, they are starting this game with 2 strikes against them:
USC 20 Iowa 17

- It is on the West Coast.
- They are facing a ranked team.
