I heard that he guaranteed in 97-98 that UK would win the championship. Is that true?
I loved it when he clotheslined the Louisville player at the end of the game.I don't know about that but I loved it when he put Wojo in a back breaker.
Yes and that was his freshman year. Tubby never let speak to the media again after that lol
Actually I don’t think he let any freshman speak to the media again if I’m remembering right

Either way, that was bold of him to predict. I still remember Magloire bulldozing a mascot at halftime of a NCAA tournament game. He’s the type I wished this seasons team had.Sophomore year 97-98. Surprised nobody caught that.
Remember when Carruth went by Duke's bench barking after hitting a few shots? Damn he sure woke Jay Williams up. I'll never forget all the clean blocks Prince had that game, only to get whistled for a foul. We should have won that game.Im almost certain Rashaad Carruth was the reason tubby didn’t make freshmen available
They called it the Rings of Magliore, after the wrestling move of Perry Saturn.I don't know about that but I loved it when he put Wojo in a back breaker.

Wish we had someone like that now.Maloire was fearless imo. Backed down from nobody.
He was a bigger version of Winston Bennett. Larry Stamper was the toughest SOB ever to play here.Maloire was fearless imo. Backed down from nobody.
1998 would’ve been his sophomore year. He was a freshman under Pitino is 1997.Yes and that was his freshman year. Tubby never let speak to the media again after that lol

That’s what I was thinking. We are missing a player just like Magloire. You add a player with his skill set to next year’s roster and we most likely catapult to preseason #1 status.Wish we had someone like that now.
Wait, what?! Magloire played four years at UK. What am I missing here?!Played Ultimate at UK. After the bball team won the NC, Magliore starting coming to our practices. Said he played a ton in high school and always wanted to join our team. We started deaming of going to Nationals now. Around the third/fouth practice, he shows up and says his agent told him to can't play anymore...that was the point where I knew he was not coming back for his junior year...
Great guy.
Wish he would’ve broke the little *****’s neck."What's he doing to Wojo?"
That was a great game. That was right around the time my daughter’s Mom got pregnant. We were all out Morehead, at my Dad’s best friend’s house, watching it.Remember when Carruth went by Duke's bench barking after hitting a few shots? Damn he sure woke Jay Williams up. Prince had some of the most beautiful blocks that where called fouls, if memory serves me correct. I vividly remember Carruth running by Duke's bench barking lol. That was a great game. Been a long time since I looked that game up. I keep reading that we got the shaft on officiating. I need to go watch some of that and see for myself. I do remember Carruth getting lost on defense several times during that game. Man, he was terrible on defense.

Yeah. My Dad was super high on Carruth, and rightfully so. I’m watching that 2001-2002 game now. Something I forgot about Carruth. Man, he was longggg. He almost has Tony Delk type long arms. What a waste of talent and potential.I thought he was the next great all American at Kentucky with that game. Turned out to be the high water mark of his career.
Cowtown, did Prince have some bad calls on some blocks that game, or am remembering wrong?Yeah. My Dad was super high on Carruth, and rightfully so. I’m watching that 2001-2002 game now. Watching this game, I also had forgotten how damn good that UK team was on the boards. My goodness, they’ve taken duke to the woodshed on the glass. Up to this point in the season, UK was +14 on the glass, as a team. That’s without their strongest interior player, Jason Parker. That’s just insane crazy ****. I couldn’t imagine how good they would’ve been on the glass with him available.
Also, that team was soooo damn deep. I still say that particular UK team was a top 5 team that year, at worst. I’m gonna be honest, they look like the better team against duke. That’s with Bogans practically being a no show in this game. He was in a major slump that year. It was frustrating to watch.
I remember going into the season, Dad and I thought we were the best team in the country, on paper anyway. I told my co worker in Cleveland during that summer that UK would be the best team in the nation, that could possibly go undefeated if things broke right. He, of course, thought I was crazy and laughed it off. That team had that kind of potential, though. One of the most talented teams we’ve ever had, top to bottom IMO. I was absolutely FLOORED when WKU beat us in Rupp the first game. That was depressing as hell!
IF Parker doesn’t get hurt, I think we go to the Final Four that year, with a great shot to win the whole thing - even with all the distractions. Also, Carruth was injured and out for the first four games of that season. I remember Fitch and Daniels getting into trouble with fake IDs that season as well. There were a lot more incidents that I can’t quite recall right now. It was like a soap opera the entire year.
Injuries, off the court issues, Bogans slump and distractions were the detriment of that team. It was just one thing right after another. “Team Turmoil” was one of the biggest what ifs in my time following Kentucky Basketball. What a shame.
I haven’t finished it yet, brother. I’m around the 11 minute mark of the second half. I have to do some things and get back to it. You know, the whole “honey do list”. [laughing] Actually looking for a deep freeze and calling meat markets now.Cowtown, did Prince have some bad calls on some blocks that game, or am remembering wrong?
Didn't he once say they where beginning to show spurts of consistency? I'd like to have another Magliore.
He played several years in the league.Magliore was a pretty fair b ball player in his own right.
