You know that a doc or trainer will not come out publicly and say anything about a medical decision (hipaa violation) But the coach has said it multiple times. And it has been reported many times. Believe what you want. But my eyes and the way this team played coming down the stretch tells me all I need to know of what happened to that locker room.
Mods, "SAID". But many didn't want to believe them and they even said at this point it wasn't even a secret. I don't understand what you're not getting, a player does not have a great practice the day before a game on multiple occasions and then suddenly decide not to play for weeks without an ulterior motive. Sure, it happens a game here or there, but not for the last 3 weeks of the season.
Why is he even practicing then ?? And practicing great ? That makes no sense if he’s checked out. No one likes practicing.
You are probably right . There are a lot of rumors. But we need some solid sources to speak out before rendering the verdict
Disagree. A convenient comparison but Mag isn’t why the offense utterly sucked. Mag isn’t the reason Cliff absolutely never passes from the low post and can’t make any shots but dunks. Mag isn’t the reason Simpson can’t shoot any better than some of us can shoot with our off hands. Mag isn’t the reason Hyatt can’t rebound and JWill falls down so often. And I could go on.
Sorry, Mag is far down the list of problems. Captains and coaches can’t fix the above. We had an average mid major roster, period.
If there’s any cancer, it’s Pike himself for letting Simpson chuck so often, spoiling any chemistry and buy-in from other players. Runner-up: Pike continues to have the players feed Cliff, an absolute black hole who continues to throw the ball at the backboard at every opportunity.
Roster fail made worse by the worst shooters taking the most shots.

This team was rebuilt coming into the year around Noah at point and Mag anchoring the defense. Noah wasn’t up to it and Mag needed a cardiologist. Flip the page and hope for better things.
No idea, I would only be speculating at that point. But he is practicing and it's his call not to play in games. That's called quitting.

But I do think that once he started sitting it was an odd coincidence that the EFFORT level deteriorated
There’s a huge difference in how we lost a month ago versus the last 2-3 weeks and I do think Mag has something to do with that

I don't understand that lol why keep allowing him to practice? Every game you're saying he looks good in practice; if it's obvious that he's gaming the system why keep allowing him to practice? Mag seems like such a respectful guy, I wouldn't think he'd use these types of tactics. What does he even gain from it? He has to really believe he can't play all out without some discomfort or reinjuring himself. He actually hurts the team if he can't play with all his physical abilities to be the ultimate hustle/garbage player that he is. He doesn't have the skill set to overcome any hindrances. He looked horrible in a couple of the games before he started sitting out, id want to sit out until I was fully recovered as well; if I looked like that out there.

His best shot for portal & NIL suitors would have been to play. Nobody wants a fragile player with limited upside.
Read Jerry Carino’s postgame report where he mentions Mag not playing all of these games despite being medically cleared. I mean. Come on. So transparent. His injury is a “calf strain” on his good leg. Basically announcing to potential suitors that his surgically repaired knee is okay and the injury he does have is just a minor strain not a tear or anything serious so he’s good to go next year. The guy had a C on his jersey but quit on his team.
Because of the injury Mag was coming off of, Pikiell couldn’t really cut him loose because to those outside the program a multimillionaire coach could be accused of trying to force an injured amateur player to come back. Then Pikiell damages his pristine nice guy image. But from his words about Mag’s availability the last couple months he got his message out.

I would definitely define Mag as a slasher on offense. Not the best shooter, but he’s athletic, crafty, and finds ways to get to the rim…

Like your speculation where you invent your own possible fact that he may not trust the Rutgers trainers to bend yourself into a pretzel and make excuses for him???? Let’s deal with facts…..the Coach, Pike, himself, factually said “Mawot did practice…and he looked good in practice.” He then said he did not anticipate he would play. This occurred several times late in the season where Pike factually spoke about how Mag practiced and looked good, yet he was not available to play in games. He was also medically cleared. Strictly dealing with facts, we have a coach saying a player is practicing and that he looks good. These facts would allow one to use their reasoning skills to think “hmmmm, it sounds like based upon what this coach is saying that this player is healthy to play.” You can make what you want of these facts, but Pike’s quotes are facts. Has he come out and called out Mag for quitting on the team, No, and he likely won’t do this…….but from his factual quotes it is very easy to see that Pike thought he was healthy enough to play and Mag chose not to play.

The whole team quit the last two games and I have to believe this stuff with Mag over the last two weeks was a large contributing factor.
Assuming you are correct, then I would ask why does a player who apparently quit on the team have more influence than the coach? That’s an indictment on Pike. His teams have seemed to have more than their share of “chemistry” issues.
We are defensive first team. Mag was the head of the defensive snake. The entire success of this team was built around him especially on the press creating steals and easy shots in transition. But, we still had issues at PG until JWill was eligible and this team went on a tear. Mag played big minutes in those games and was scoring. That said, it was JWill who got a lot of love locally and within the league for being the man. Mag continued to practice well according to Pike but suddenly couldn’t play games anymore. We went 1-7 down the stretch. Pike, who loves his guys, barely mentioned Mag on senior day. The end.
Pike has to step up and be a little tougher on his players. Can't be best friends with them at this level or you will get walked all over by them and their handlers. He also has teams constantly trying to poach players from him. Mr. nice guy not working at this level.
This is the way I see it...I just don't understand it unless he already has a deal in place for next year. I feel like if this is the case, then cam, Paul, mag and to some extent cliff felt disrespected or like they werent appreciated because of the coaches indicating they wanted more athletic and offensively skilled players. Would make sense of the things cam's parents said. These guys went the "oh you think we suck, try your luck with Simpson" route or whoever not to pick on Simpson but he was the go to scorer with everyone else gone.
