His books are excellent. Outliers is my favorite. It's a bunch of short story examples so it's an easy book to read a little at a time. Highly recommend reading it for those who haven't
I enjoyed The Bomber Mafia. The guy can write.

Mag had that terrible break against Indiana when he ran the guy over when he could have easily dished to Cliff for a jam.

Since then he has been completely under control on the break making the right reads. With his size and athleticism he just needs to stay under control. He really can't be stopped

The Hyatt 4 on 1 spot up 3 after missing a few 3's on the other hand hurt my soul
I put the 4 on 1 Hyatt 3 point more on Paul. Sure it was a bad shot, but Andre fanned out because there were already two other players filling the lane. Paul made the decision to kick it out instead of penetrating more and using the other two players running the break. Should have been an easy 3 on 1 layup if Paul made that decision.

Mag has improved ALOT. He is a difference maker.

Hyatt needs to be more discerning on his 3 point attempts. Wayyyyy too many early in the clock. If he eliminates the bottom 1/2 of his 3s early in the clock, we are a much more efficient offense.

Paul might have been to blame for one of Cliffs moving picks

He clearly is someone who learns and improves...he went much slower today which is clearly a focus point.

Honestly I never understood those who doubted Mag. The defensive upside was always clear as day, and he showed flashes offensively

Perfect Pike recruit
Sad thing .
,if you recall ,he played with a lot of pain last year and I'm sure his naysayers would be able to excel with the same severe dental pain

You just HAVE to like Mag’s development this year. He is averaging 7.5 ppg and 5.9 rpg, and he’s been VERY consistent in providing those numbers in most games, not to mention contributing assists, steals and generally excellent defense. Let’s look at this 5-game stretch against P6 opponents:

@Miami - 9 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block

Indiana - 7 points, 9 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 blocks

@OSU - 3 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block

SHU - 7 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal

Wake - 8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals

This guy is contributing all over the court, every game. Things have really slowed down for him, and HE has slowed down and let the game come to him in offense.

You guys need to go join a book club or something. You are making the message board a cesspool with this nonsense.

I’d rather watch the NBA then read a fiction book.
Well, the Knicks are playing the Pacers tonight going for seven straight. That’s a better option than insulting loyal RU fans.

I would think that a majority of moving picks are caused by the player with the ball going to the screener too fast before he has a chance to set.
There's no excuse for the screener to stick out his knee to snag the defensive player. That's an easy call for the refs. Set the screen and stay put. It's too quick of a way to build up your foul count. On the charge call on Cam, he lowered his shoulder. Got to get that shoulder past the defender's torso. Once that defender establishes a legal guarding position, the offensive player has some responsibilities regarding contact. Just some things to clean up. Overall, a great effort by the team.

i don't know when it happened. I don't know why it happened. But I have zero interest in the NBA.
And it's been that way for a number of years.
OTOH...if Ron Harper is playing I may just tune in.
Pacers
dale davis, Rick smits, anotonio Davis, mark Jackson, Reggie miller

I have no idea who is on the Pacers now. I could name everyone on every team 10-15 years ago

I thought there were 2 players on the left side and Hyatt was the only player on the right side. Could be wrong though

Yes two players on the left, Paul with the ball on the right. Had options, thought he chose the wrong one.

Oversimplifying but... if you give the ball to Hyatt, he's going to shoot it. Paul should know that by now.
I understand what you are saying, but if our point guard is not passing to a guy the coach has put on the floor (not for defense) then we have a different problem. It would be one thing if Mulcahy had 2 guys filling the lanes with 1 being Simpson and the other Woolfolk.

His full court press is a thing of beauty and such an underrated thing. And yes his 2 fast breaks today he didn’t charge and instead did great - such a happy improvement. Great job Mag, Pike and coaches on that
Others need to take note of that there is nothing wrong with a pull up 8 foot jump shot vs. going full steam and getting a charge called because as we have seen over and over again in my opinion many times wrong is they are going to call a charge; look at the call against Cam Spencer in the first half of the Wake game that wasn't even a fast break the guy was 100% still moving and what do they call a charge against Cam

My issue is one of the guys on the left side was Cam. If we are looking for spot up 3's in transition, that's where the first read needs to be

I'm not saying Paul shouldn't ever pass to Hyatt, I'm saying know your personnel, if you pass to Hyatt and he has an open 3, it's going up. That wasn't a good spot for it to go up from 3.

Paul makes decisions like that all the time (watch for him to look off Cliff when Cliff might have an open 3) and he's really good at it. That was one time when he wasn't.

Such an awful play. I get it. He hits it. Roof comes off. But 4 on 1!!!!!
Other than that one play Hyatt had a good game. Came off the bench and scored immediately. Has been shooting the 3 well and is a solid rebounder. When Cliff is in he gets less but when Cliff is out he gets a lot of rebounds for a “rebounding guard” as Pike calls him. I saw one of the assistants giving him a little razz the next timeout after the 4 on 1 but it was not harsh. He was smiling and had the “cmon man” face on. Players make mistakes. That was a mistake for sure.

Hyatt is another very good player on a roster full of very good players

His game this year is mirroring Caleb’s the last two years …doing the dirty work and not called on to score

Just might get to 11-12 ppg his senior year when it’s “his turn”…like Caleb and Andre are when it’s their turn

Mag is playing defense at an elite level. He's been harassing in the back court and double teaming PG's when they cross mid court. Also, her is doing a nice job on the glass. If he continues to play D at this level, he is a candidate to make all big ten defensive team. He and Caleb have become fierce defenders.
