Didn’t say he was out for the year so I hope there’s a chance Mag returns for the season / big 10 tourney / ncaa tourney. Sucks he’s out but next man up!
Nothing about the entire year. Pike said the following :” yeah, he’s out for a bit. He’s like the heart and soul of our team too. What a great team mate. He’s just improved every year. One of the great kids that we’ve recruited. So, guys gotta be ready. Step up. He’s a very very important player.”

I take this as a pretty good sign relative to the quote from the day of the game. Probably the best we could’ve hoped for with a knee injury. When Caleb “dinged his knee” it took over a month to get him back. It’s not like turning an ankle.

If he was known to be done for season though it would’ve been spun differently.

I’m hoping for the above. If it was known that he was done for the season I’m hoping Pike would have said something that alluded to that. Out for a bit may mean a few weeks which I would sign up for right now.

Pike plays injuries close to the vest. If Mag was really throwing out t-shirts at the womens game that is a very good sign.
He would not keep a season ending MRI result close lipped. That’s the best news here. Sometimes with knees - it’s wait and see though so he may not know time frame (assuming it is knee related of course - that just based on the brace).

No one. Else can verify this?
Team was there throwing out t shirts for sure. Didn’t notice Mag specifically. Caleb came into stands and sat a few rows in front of me to watch end of game. Was tempted to ask him about Mag, but decided not to.

“Out for a bit” is Pikespeak for rest regular season imo. It’s the WAY he said it, too. If you watched it, you would think it’s gonna be a few weeks at least.

As long as he's back for the B1G Tourney and NCAA Tourney, that is when we will need him the most.

If it’s the knee (likely since we saw the knee rapped), it’s not coach speech for anything other than that he’s not scheduled for season ending surgery. Almost anything would have to be a wait and see situation. Knee issues are notoriously tricky and unpredictable with time tables.

I’ll take 2 weeks and a knee brace to get him back. He has made himself irreplaceable with his energy and defense while starting to become a reliable shooter.
Me too - but our trainers will likely be conservative. Going back too soon is a big risk with knees.

The injury occurred when Hall #25 stepped on Mag’s heel as he was jumping. The slight downward pressure on Mag’s heel as he was extending his leg was the issue… he started reaching for his knee before his foot hit the ground. It wasn’t the landing. Ever try pulling a stuck boot out of mud?

So no one actually saw him at the women’s game and everyone is conjecturing off of a few words from Pike that don’t actually give his status?

RU fans are optimists after all.
