Is this referring to Chris’s report on pikes comments from last night? That’s not new.

"I was told from someone in the dept ydy he's done for the year" is another post now... more hearsay. Hopefully wrong but wouldn't be surprising

Yea reading the link in the tweet it sounds like indefinitely is just their translation of what Pike said?

I need to stop freaking out and just wait for some real update 🤣
If it’s a sprain, which seems more and more likely they really won’t know how long it will be for at least a week. There’s often not even correlation between how bad it feels initially and the recovery time. My son hurt his knee a few years ago so we have some experience with this.

We replaced Mag with Oskar vs. MSU. When that didn't work we tried Hyatt. When that didn't work we replaced our starting power forward with 6 foot Derek Simpson and that worked best.

Freaking out is an appropriate response.

Guys… read the tea leaves. Pike says out for a bit, the way he said it, he’s probably out minimum a few weeks. Then he has to get back in game shape. That’s the season. Face it. Life without Mag with a HOPE of B1G tourney… next man up

I think most people expect Mag to be out for basically the regular season. The question is if he will be here for the tournament bc that has a massive impact on our hopes for a deep run

Someone is practicing in Mag’s spot and working on the double down low against TJD.
Don’t know who it is, but it’s what we’re going to do

if he is out for the year, we will know...that kind of stuff they announce

if not, then he will miss a few weeks at least and then its all conjecture on when or if he will play just like it was with Paul and Caleb

I suggest people not frustrate themselves trying to read between the lines of everything

I am assuming RU will announce something and if its not saying he is out for the year...take it and run. If he can get back playing in tourney time it would be huge

That’s what I had heard when I posted much earlier in this thread.

I can't wait for someone to blame this on the fact that the game wasn't at THE RAC.
That sounds reasonable.
If Mag wasn't playing at MSG, he wouldn't have been injured there

Indefinitely literally means that there is no defined period when it will end. So indefinitely just means Pike didn't give a time frame. Which he didn't.

So we've got:

Coach: "Out for a bit."

3rd to 4th hand info I also got a few hours ago but chose to hold onto until others posted (apparently via someone at RU via someone at MSG, yesterday, is what I'm hearing): "ACL. DONE FOR YEAR.....DONE."

.....I'm gonna stick with Pikes for now.

That would not be my interpretation of events from yesterday. Nor Pikes from his post game presser.
We are all entitled to our opinions.

Like I said in the other thread they know immediately if it is an ACL tear; there are certain tests the trainer will do and he would know immediately and I believe if it was torn they would have said it by now because he 100% would be out for the rest of the year so at this point we can be pretty certain it is some kind of sprain ala Caleb in preseason and to me best case scenario is back for the Big tourney

FREAKING OUT by members of this board happens just about every game on gameday threads ..
Post a rumor and the same happens..

lets see how bad the team plays without him.
Did manage to win the game he got hurt in and might be alright without him.
Just a little worse off, but replacements make his loss felt far less then the panickers expect.
Agree.

Let’s be clear here. Mag was defensive player of the year and that is with Caleb on our team. Plus he rebounded on both ends and in the last 6-7 games giving us 8-10 per game including some big baskets and had 7 points and was the only one who had a good first half against MSU at MSG. Plus he is at the head of the press and at the top of the 1/3/ 1 trap once other team gets in the forecourt. When we press and he is doing his thing we are a super elite defense maybe the best defense in the country which leads to steals and fast breaks and it upstarts our offense. So he will be a huge loss.

Having said that , the question is who steps up. Mag and Hyatt were giving you about 20 points a game from the 4 spot. Hyatt’s defense and rebounding has not been good but maybe he can continue to give 8-10 per game. He will get more minutes likely and hopefully that translates to 10-12 per game. Dean , Oscar , or Derek are going to get minutes. Can they provide 8-10 points combined and play some semblance of defense and rebound ? Sure hope so. I really think Dean should be ready for this spot because he will get his chance. I just do not see Oscar being quick enough offensively not defensively to help a lot, unless we are playing teams that play zone , where he could have a role and come in and shoot 4-5 threes a game and hopefully makes at least 1 , and would be thrilled to get 2.
Derek in my opinion is close to hitting his freshman wall and I just do not see the confident player he was before the Big 10 started . Yes he hit a big shot against MSU cutting it to 40-39 and hit 2 big foul shots but he is going to have to step up his defense and give us more and not sure he is capable this year. He is going get more minutes especially if either of Paul, Cam or Caleb is struggling for a stretch so do not think he will be yanked out after a minute but will have 4-5 minutes to make an impact. Rooting for him.

The starters will have to do more and getting more consistency from Cam and Caleb offensively along with very good to great defense they have shown would go a long way to minimize Mag’s loss.

So is it safe to say that Mowat was NOT seen at the women’s game yesterday without a brace or limp? I would assume someone would be able to confirm that by now.
