Let’s just hope at the worst he hyperextended it and will only miss a few games. We really need him and if he is out for any extended time Hyatt and Palmquist really need to step up.

You have to feel so bad for Mag. Hopefully, it's something he can recover enough from and return this year, but yeah, it certainly didn't look good and if he's somehow out for the rest of the season, then others just have to step up. That's sports.

How would you know?
I also think there’s a high likelihood it’s an ACL injury. I’ve seen them happen when coaching and they look exactly like what I saw with Mag in slow motion replay and afterwards when he walked off.

Of course nobody knows. I’m hoping it’s something else.

They will have done an anterior (maybe also a posterior) drawer test in the locker room. Even if they did the drawer test(s) and it looked bad, I can speak from experience that sometimes what looks like an ACL or PCL prior to the MRI winds up being inflammation or a bone bruise. Those would be vastly preferable, of course.

Hopefully it is only a knee contusion.

Mag was contesting Caleb for DEPOTY and becoming a real offensive threat. Hard to replace that. Let’s hope it’s something short term. Subbing for him made us go short in defense Spenser and Simpson playing taller opponents.

Looks like ACL. My guess is done for the year.
My experience with an acl is you stand up then immediately collapse. Happened to me and a friend exactly like that
Then maybe you can walk on it

From APP article:

2. Mawot Mag injury

Mawot Mag, who’s really stepped up for Rutgers this season on both ends of the floor, suffered an injury with just more than six minutes to go in the first half. He was attempting a layup, but was hit by Michigan State’s Jaden Akins (Akins got called for the foul) and fell hard to the court.
He was on the floor for a couple minutes while trainer Richard Campbell tended to him. Mag eventually got up and limped off the court into the locker room under his own power before returning to the bench shortly after.

But Mag didn’t start the second half (Oskar Palmquist replaced him) and never returned to the court. He eventually returned to the bench in street clothes with a wrap on his leg.

The throat slice from the trainer probably means positive special test for some sort of pathology. I'm guessing ACL by the way he landed.

Pike’s comment in the article didn’t sound good at all. “Really feel for the kid. Will see what the doctor’s say tomorrow”. Or something like that. Sounds like he’s not expecting good news but hoping to be pleasantly surprised.
