We're supposed to be sober? What rule number is that? We ARE State fans after all; Abandon all hope ye who cheer for the Maroon and White.

-Good Luck telling Michigan St they can't use MSU
-Good Luck telling a host of schools and businesses they can't use Bulldogs
-Good Luck telling a host of schools they can't use State

-Good Luck finding anybody that wants to use Praise the Lord and Go Dawgs & PTLGD
I guess they gave up on trying to sell everyone on "The Outfield Terrace" term when they were trying to clean up the outfield image?

Well, Vic Schaefer probably now says
“Praise Allah, and Hook ‘Em Horns.” So we probably good on the PTLGD.

I think there is a difference between the R - registered trademark, and the TM - unregistered trademark.

I really don't know for sure - but Registered means it's owned by the university. So that's the first 4listed. No one else could use those regardless of what they are advertising or selling.

The other TM just means you can't use them on MSU branded stuff. So the shirt he's trying to sell can't say The Dude and be MSU related. He could make a shirt saying The Dude with a colonel reb in red and blue instead of a bulldog in maroon, and MSU couldn't say anything.

There are probably a ton of people with The Dude trademarks, just like tons with Bulldogs, Dawgs, etc. trademarks. Those can't be exclusively registered to one person because so many people use it, but you can trademark it to prevent use promoting something in particular (in this case, Mississippi State).

This is pretty cool. Just take the words "The Dude" off of it and you should be fine. Or, as someone else suggested, change it to "Abides."

How do you claim to trademark “State”?

I looked into trying to get licensed to make and sell trademarked State stuff a couple years ago. Turns out, it’s a real pain. You have to have insurance, pay a fee, submit “examples” of your product, and then pay a hefty %. State required a higher % than most other schools. So, when you see a licensed product from a maker at a retail shop, it’s got 40-50% tacked onto what the maker gets, not counting his insurance and expenses.

And yet there is so much burgundy garbage being produced and sold legally.

MSU only charges a 12% royalty to licensed vendors, which is in the normal range for most other universities I've worked with.

Updated design. Hopefully this one sticks: https://www.redbubble.com/shop/ap/80853465

You got skills. Like others have said, create a store front on one of those websites that drop ships custom shirts and koozies to order. You could make a few dollars. Very cool design.

I like it. Better than what ours would be for sure. Surprised we haven't gone with Charlie the Tuna at this point. Our mascot is a 17ing mess.

I was only kidding when I made fun of your color blindness, but it would be great if you bought the maroon ones to distribute instead.*

Just saw. Nearly shat myself. Too bad I don't have Twitter, otherwise I'd thank both.

Btw, if it isn't obvious by now, State didn't claim IP violation. Universal did.
You should just sell it to MSU now.. it's blowing up on twitter. peter burns and john cohen tweeted it now

No surprise. Deep pockets.. and lots of people to chase that stuff.
All over a little fun.

Maybe The Dudy DUDE?
The Dawg DUDE?
