
ARREST MADE IN “MAD DOG” ASSAULT CASE
Our Riverside Street Crimes Unit and Patrol worked this case and apprehended Tyler Chandler for Aggravated Assault and Battery and Threatening a State Witness today.
On 2-16-2022 at 9:00pm Officers were assigned to a fight in progress at the gas station located at 3600 S. Peoria, fortunately the entire altercation was caught on surveillance camera and there were outstanding witnesses to help officers with information.
Two suspects can be seen assaulting the victim, who is well known in the area as “Mad Dog”. The assault went on for some time and including punching and kicking the elderly victim while he lay on the ground.
The suspects then attempted to get two dogs in the back of their car to attack the victim.
After the assault, Chandler made posts on his social media accounts bragging about how he and the other suspect attacked the victim.
Chandler is approximately half of the age of the victim and in considerably better physical condition than the victim.
It is believed that the attack was an attempt to intimidate the victim as he is testifying against one of the assailants in another case.
The victim had several serious injuries and was sent to the hospital for treatment.
This investigation is still ongoing, and we are closing in on the second suspect, we’ll fill you guys in as it progresses.
This is an arrest and not a conviction.
