Now that Charlie Batch has offered the Oklahoma QB a million bucks to play one year at Easter Michigan, not sure it really matters what a coach does or doesn’t do. We now have professional college sports. I know, we’ve always had a limited version of it. But it’s a whole new world.
I pretty much stopped watching pro sports. Guess college is next. Anybody know a good little league team to pull for?

Reactionary and a mistake depending on who they hire. Overhauling the defense potentially sets the program back at least two years. During that same time, these last three recruiting classes mature, get experience, and the defense likely looks a lot different than it does now. Pays to be at least a little bit patient in a rebuild.

Think they'll learn from this past year to play the best players. A lot of new faces will be playing in 2022, thankfully.

Kills me when I see posters on IC claiming the scheme just doesn't work when even former players have come out and said it's not the scheme. We started a juco transfer at NT that's not very athletic and maybe pushes 300 lbs. It took our upperclassmen ILB an entire half to start making plays. People act like there weren't talent holes in our defense because we recruited a bunch of 4 and 5-stars half of which didn't even have a normal senior year of HS ball.

Rumor is:

1) Glenn Schumann
2) Kevin Steele and/or Rodney Garner
3) Travis Williams
4) Gene Chizik

^Not sure how seious that last one is. They have supposedly reached out to Schumann (Miami wants him also), Garner and Steele.

If I’m not mistaken Chizik has been there before and their defense was pretty good under him.

Chizik's best year was statistically no better than Bateman's first. He runs a two-deep vanilla D that gives up a lot of yardage on the ground. He's anti-NIL (was just all over Twitter) and doesn't like to recruit. Extremely underwhelming hire. Just my take.

Hasn't had the kind of talent that UNC has currently. He's not the head coach so the NIL stuff doesn't matter and we've got plenty of other recruiters on staff. Warren is the bigger hire, IMO. No ******** kind of guy and is a very good recruiter. Need his toughness on the defensive side.

Take away Naz Jones, Strowbridge and Crawford. Replace them with Vohasek, Kaimon Rucker, etc and I bet that takes some shine off Chizik's defenses here. He had more talent in his front seven than we did the last couple years and gave up 50 ypg more on the ground. I hope it works out, but tough/physical is not how I would describe his D, and that was supposedly the problem. Gave up 645 (!) yards rushing in a bowl game. That was worse than this year. Again, hope it works out. But makes ZERO sense.

We'll agree to disagree. He's never had talent on all 3 levels like he does now. Like I said before, Warren is the bigger hire here with his no nonsense attitude and ability to recruit. I don't put too much emphasis on bowl games, outside of the big ones, as kids rarely get excited to play.

I will give Chizik this: you know you've done something in life when you can lay out of work for five years and immediately rejoin the work force at or near the pinnacle of your profession. Guy is either really good or a grifter. Let's hope it's the former and not the latter lol.

If I close my eyes I can still see Baylor running all over Gene (645yds!) in his last unc game.

The ACC is terrible this year, but you'd be hard pressed to find a conference with as much talent at QB: Sam Howell, Brennan Armstrong, Sam Hartman, Kenny Pickett, Malik Cunningham. And that's with D.J. Uiagalelei struggling.

Devin Leary is not bad. The freshman at Miami might be better than anyone they've had in a while.

Five of the top ten QBs ranked by PFF.

Your guy has NC State in his top 5. That's gotta hurt
