NB should finish 4th in the MAC I don't think you all have anything to worry about I guess if the stars aligned right against the top 3 anything is possible, I will say they have a great qb and a few decent wrs but I don't see them being a danger to the top 3. As for Friday we need Asheville to be off and our guys play near perfect I really like our guys and as I said before I see this game a lot like the Franklin Asheville game earlier in the year! I really am looking forward to going back to Asheville lot of respect best program in WNC most years. My boys will come to play and I'll be proud either way at the end of the 4th quarter

Pisgah can't turn the ball over and Asheville will have to turn it over and get a lot of penalties for the Bears to have a chance. That's usually the case when the Cougars lose. I have never seen another team beat Asheville, but I have seen Asheville beat themselves multiple times (one of the worst being Weddington). In all honesty if Asheville had more discipline I think they'd have won at least 2 more championships in the Wilkins era.

I can tell you I speak for alot of Asheville fans who feel that we should a hell of alot more state championships than just 2005. 2002,2004 come to mind. At the very least should have had appearances in 2002,2004,2005,2007,2014

I can tell you we went to the 4th round of the playoffs in 02 and lost to a pretty good Bandys team beat Charoltte Catholic team ranked number 1 in the state along the way and the 02 Asheville team we played a 7 on 7 against and it was easy to tell that was the most talented team I saw in my 4 years the fact they didn't at least play for a state title is mind boggling to me

Not sure why everyone keeps talking about Erwin. Erwini s still a second tier team until they actually win something. I'm just glad they havea tougher schedule instead of playing a weak schedule. Until Erwin can beat the cougars they should not be mentioned in the same conversation. Just stating the facts. Ric Flair said in order to be the man you have to beat the man. Enough said.

The '02 Asheville team had to beat top ranked and undefeated crest in the third round but just blew it in the 4th round against ashbrook. Same in '04, blew 4th quarter lead against concord. The '07 team was one inch a way from a state title appearance(failed 2 point conversion). Doubt we would've beat western Alamance in the title game though, they were loaded. '09 we would've had a great shot had we been in 3aa but instead we had to play west Rowan in small 3a. Last year we shot ourselves in the foot against Weddington and had to deal with some horrible officiating. I really doubt there is a team across the state that has more heartbreaking playoff losses over the last 10-12 years than Asheville

I agree AHSDYNASY. We've had some tuff loses in the last 15 years. Losing to Erwin twice, back to back in 2012 was bad, but I swear last years loss to Weddington still pisses me off. Some of the worst officiating I've ever seen in that game. Some of the things those officials said to our players during the game should have at least gotten them fired.

I don't think last year had to necessarily do with discipline. We just made a couple of mistakes and had some turnovers that we hadn't had all season. Just didn't play our A game, and the refs didn't help either. It is what it is. The losses that make me the most sick are the '02 and '04 regional championship losses. So many things had to go wrong for us to blow the double digit, fourth quarter lead in both games. And everything that could've went wrong did go wrong. We just flat out choked.

The 2012 team that was terrible wasnt really heartbreaking. Josh hall and justin fritts never played a down for us and josh irby got hurt after like 6 games. That team just wasnt good at all and had no expectations. The 2002 team had the best defense Wilkins has ever coached (by the end of the year) and the 2004 offense was the best Wilkins ever coached. Both of those team coincidentally horrifically choked away 2 rings.

The top three will win this week, NB has a good chance also, the other three have no chance! Biggest question is does the 4A division of the MAC deserve a playoff spot come the end of the season, not going to be many wins for either of them.

Just got back from the jv game for Pisgah/Asheville. I know the Asheville posters don't care about MVS but Bears take the W 27-0. My question is; how does the jv team go from what they are to being what Asheville's varsity is? Surely the run the same offense as varsity right?

If the Reynolds/Owen jv game is any indication we're gonna be in for a long one tomorrow. Rockets take the win 43-6. Could've been a lot worse. Running clock in the 2nd half. Owen scored with 1 minute left in the game. 36-0 at half. Ouch.

We have a great offseason workout program and an even better recruiting director. We can find guys anywhere.
In all honesty, its just kind of always been that way. Some of it is the fact we bring up some guys at the beginning of the year to varsity and some players just don't develop right away, hence the bad jv results. I think like most schools, jv is where you work on things, but everything is about Friday night.

'02 and '04 should be two more state titles for the Cougars for sure. Don't think the '07 team would've had anything for Western Alamance, last year's team would've had a shot against Northern Guilford for sure but no guarantee.

Hey bud when I was in School we held the lead in the overall series and your boys were throwing helmets up in our crowd like little babies in temper tantrums. Put that in your pipe. I didnt see the garbage you spew and if you have the proof of it then show me. I was there. The way you talk we have only beat you twice 30 years. Just a little food for thought Since 1986 (Brad Johnsons senior year) up through 2004 Reynolds won 9×'s 87,88,89,90,91,95,99,01 and 02. Owen in that same time won 8×'s 86,92,93,94,96,97,03 and 04. Then you won 10 straight and we then won last year. You have a 10 game lead in the series 35-25. Where did that gap come from? Yeah the last 10 years. So that NFL QB beat you his senior year. Oh and that 95 game we lost 17-14 on a bobble snap on a field goal which would have tied it as time was winding down. If not for that we would have won 6 in a row.
