He hasn't signed anything. He is currently just a verbal commitment. He can't sign until the signing period in May. I'm not saying I think he'll back off that commitment but with the rumors swirling around I wouldn't put it past Roy to try and lure him to UNC by having Maye enter the draft to make it look like plenty of time would be available. Just a theory, it's nothing I strongly believe. But Zion can still go anywhere he wants.

I don't know that he's signed but he very well could be. I didn't realize the signing period started on 4/11/18. I don't remember it starting in April. I always thought it was in May. Oh well, sorry for the bad information. Wonder why we haven't heard of EJ signing?

That might be why UNCheats never has anyone declare early for the draft, they'll all too dumb to fill out the paperwork.

The irony is, none of these kids need to sign a LOI. Yet almost all of them still get suckered into the tradition of signing one. It's not an issue at UK because Cal actually believes in Players First. But other schools, other coaches, hold players hostage with those LOIs.

One of the myth's about Maye is that he was a walk-on. He has been on athletic scholarship since his freshman year. It is true that he was originally not promised a scholarship his freshman year, depending on someone else they were recruiting, but was promised one starting his sophomore year. The recruit fell through and he got the last scholarship. he also had scholarship offers to Notre Dame and Clemson.

Still a good story about how well he has done at UNC.
