Hansborough is the only comparison?

There are plenty of centers that see a lot of success in college and then don't do well in the NBA - they are two different games.

Just looking around the recent Big Ten.... Ethan Happ was a great college center, but no real traction in the NBA. Frank Kaminsky had a couple of decent seasons at least. Isaac Haas. Moritz Wagner. Caleb Swanigan.

Being great in college, even dominant, doesn't necessarily mean NBA success. Personally I don't see Garza translating to a big time NBA player - but could surely be wrong.

Let’s get one thing straight we didn’t lose this game because of the refs. However, I have never seen a player so protected then the golden boy Garza. The amount he fouls on defense that he doesn’t get called for is maddening, compound that with the weak cheap fouls on the other end and you understand why he will win the National Player of the Year award. I’m not saying that Luka isn’t a great college player but he is playing with a different whistle then any other big man that I have ever seen. I am very confident that in the NCAA tournament you will see a different Garza, without the BIG refs on his side.

What really put me over the edge was the when Luka was called for a charge going to the lane against JY, immediately Luka ran to the refs complaining and pleading his case. I said to my buddy I guarantee RU will be called for a make up call on the next possession, sure enough Montez, was called for a charge when it was clearly the wrong call. Also why are NONE of Luka’s elbows reviewed by the refs? Is Luka allowed to swing his elbows and strike opposing players but no one else is??

Again, this is not why we lost. Our 3pt shooting was horrid, and most were wide open shots. Our defensive rebounded was bad too, but again that has a lot to do with Myles being in foul trouble. I just wish that our big men would get the same friendly whistle that the BIG 10 golden boy gets.

Garza never gets called for a foul. It's infuriating. Total ********.

I'm not so sure it was wrong but Garza jumped to contest the shot. He stayed pretty well vertical. But that may be the first time I've ever seen an airborne defender draw a charge.

Again, that bizarre cylinder rule is what it is but you're right about the review. When do we ever see a guy land an elbow with no review? When do we see it happen 3x in a game (2 by Garza) with no review?

That rule needs to go. Like yesterday.

Garza just got called for a blocking foul. Izzo must have worked the refs before the game
