I watched their game against Minn yesterday & it didn’t seem like he was doing much & then I saw he finished with a quiet 20 some points & 10 rebounds or something like that.

Will he really win national POY?

The few games I’ve seen him have all been similar to yesterday. Good player but he doesn’t stand out. Then you look at the stats and he has like 30 points & 15 rebounds.

What do others think?

he has zero chance to win national player of the year (obviously)

he may win comeback player of the year, though. pretty amazing for a caveman to be thawed out and start for an ncaa qualifier

Who will beat him for B1G POY?

For that matter, who’s going to beat him for national POY?

myles powell and obi toppin, among 2 or 3 others who will certainly beat him for national player of the year. especially after iowa goes 0-5 to end the year.

mich st catches fire like last year, cassius winston could easily win.

oh, and iowa sucks.

He's got a hell of a career ahead of him - Netflix Adams Family reboot.

If that’s his competition then yes, he’s already won both awards.

if that's your reply, then yes, you know nothing about college hoops in 2020.

Powell is leading his team to a potential big east title. Toppin has his mid-major in the top 10, and will likely be the #1 pick.

garza leads the nation in forehead space, while his team will likely limp to a 0-5 finish and 1-and-dones in both the conference and ncaa tournaments.

head back to the iowa board where your slurping of this Cro-Magnon man will be better received.

Well, I, for one, thank him. The Science community thanks him. Zoo curators thank him. For years upon years, people have asked "where is the missing link?" Thank you Luka Garza, for coming out of the shadows and finally putting that question to rest..

He'll look like this Luca Brasi when he's older:

That's assuming he discovers the wonders of Gillette, and its line of grooming products. After 22 or 23 years, he is still full on Neanderthal, so don't bet on it.

Trivia question: Did you know Garza is the Italian word for ugly?

You haven't really been watching the games then - he shoots it well from all over the floor and is terrific in the paint. Garza DOES stand out and has a chance to win the Wooden.

Great college player that could easily win conference POY at a minimum.

Garza scored the first 8 points of the game and the announcers talked about him non-stop for two hours, but when you watched "their" game it didn't seem like he was doing much? Good Lord, at least try to be a troll with a room temperature IQ.

Yikes so our fan base thinks, as a majority, that Garza isn’t very good.

I’d take 5 not very good Garza’s everyday playing for us.

But maybe that’s just me. I’ll fully admit that I know way too much about b-ball.

weird, I don't see one post saying that.

he's not the national player of the year and he's ugly AF. that's the through line I'm seeing.

he's the best player on a pretty avg team, which is a very iowa thing to tout.

I've posted several positive comments about Garza this year. I didn't need some dipshit troll posing as a Nebraska fan to tell me he's a good player.

"Our" fan base... FFS, are you 12 years old or just remarkably stupid?

I see little chance he wins national player of the year and will add Dotson at Kansas, Howard at marquette to list. I do see him being a first team all American though.

as far as big ten player of the year I see him running away with award. Who? He will beat out oturo at Minnesota, Winston at Michigan st, cowens and smith at Maryland, Lamar Stevens at penn st. Am I forgetting anyone?

I am so confused by the people on this board talking about how Garza isn’t the Big Ten POY. He wins it and it’s not even close. The more you talk about how bad (or ugly??) he is, the more I can see why I don’t need to pay attention to your other takes.

The people who have careers knowing the game all note he’s the best. He’s also the odds on favorite to win the Wooden.

I missed where you are being paid for your basketball expertise to say otherwise.

And I’m not even an Iowa fan. But quit making yourselves sound uninformed.

Iowa fan here.

Garza should win Big10 POY without question really. He should probably win the Wooden if you go with consistency and the fact that he isn't exactly playing with 4 other high end recruits like some others in CBB. From what I can gather around here he is a pretty good kid and a super hard worker. But yes, if I was a fan of an opposing team, I would probably hate him also.

Maybe Iowa will get thrown a bone after Woolridge got shafted for POY back in the day.

It’s one of your kind that started the thread and went fishing with it..

Garza will win POY in the B1G..

I agree that Garza will win conference POY. I will be surprised if he receives the Wooden Award, but not because he isn't deserving. I just think that award tends to go to someone with more preseason and in-season media buzz.

So, fair to say ‘odds on favorite’ was a bit of a stretch, then?
What do you want me to do? Get on my knees and beg forgiveness? He was at one point the favorite and I owned very clearly that he’s now 5th. That wasn’t good enough?
