Found an article about Middle Tennessee's scheduling. It talks about how much MT is asking for one time road games now (Kentucky is pay $700,000 for a game this year) and how they want to increase the price to $900,000 to 1 million. It also shows that MT gets about a net $450,000 to $500,000 for a 2 for 1 deal with Georgia Tech, Louisville, and Maryland . Miss State ended up in a straight up home and home deal with MT because LT would pay nothing to get MT at home or even in a 2-1 deal. MT gets $200,000 for coming to Starkville this year and pays $200,000 for the return trip to M'boro. So MT (and probably La Tech) get a straight up home and home with MSU for a net $0 cost. Even Memphis gets some of MT's ticket revenue for going to M'boro, which again, Miss State does not. Article is here if your interested.

So LT's unwillingness to pay literally anything net for a home game over then next 2 years other than the 100,000 to 300,000 given to SELA is why MSU went to Ruston this year and is going to M'boro next. Way to keep us in the black LT.

because it's like you're doing a home and home, but then you get a guarantee home game for a discount price (400k instead of 900k). and away games in places that are interesting/convenient for our fans are not bad things. you could even use those games a recruiting tool (one reason why jackie wanted to play texas, baylor, and houston). MTSU is near nashville, tulane is in new orleans, and memphis is a good place to recruit. even uab is in birmingham. this, however, does NOT apply to ruston. we shouldn't travel to another city unless something good can come out of it for us.

really cost us if it ends up being the game that keeps us home for the holidays.
