Maybe this year but I’m taking about a 12 year sample.
I would say most years they are vastly superior to anyone they play before the semifinals. No less than a 75% chance of winning. Every year they are so much better than anyone outside the top 4 teams in the bracket.

York home atmosphere is definitely an advantage for the Dukes, but the sheer size and multitude of weapons for Loyola give them an advantage on the field. York has had a great season, and I will go back to my point of a VERY good public school is going to have their hands full with an all star Loyola team
Cry me a river.

I was pleased to see that Loyola had one player make the IHSFCA all-state team in 8A. How DOUBLY wonderful for York that TWO of its players made that 8A all-state team. Amazing talent that the bus is dropping off at York. Perhaps a very good Loyola is the one that will have ITS hands full with an all star York team.

Not taking away from the kids who made the that all state team. Obviously you knew That’s not the official IHSA all state team. It’s a coaches team and something tells me a lot of coaches blew it off or aren’t members. Catholics got snubbed big time. 😂😂😂😂😂

Ok, say they are 100%, 90%, 80%, 60%, and 50% then the odds of winning all five are 22% or approx one championship every five years. Given their actual outcome, they are underperforming by .6 championships over a 12 year period. The whole point of this is to show how hard it is to win these things and that the perception by some that LA has not risen to the occasion might be slightly true but, more likely, they’ve done pretty much what the odds say they should have.

Good point and well said. Picking 1 team especially in 8A over the entire field is always a tall task despite the enormous inherent advantage that program has.
The perception by some that LA has not risen to occasion seems to be coming mostly from their fan base on this site.

Most coaches/schools would give there right nuts to achieve that type of success. Holecek and the people at Loyola are class acts and run a classy program. It’s always a pleasure competing against them.

I believe there is a cap on how many players from each school can make it. I think 2 is the max.

Seeing GBW v York meet in Champaign is my hope. Considering your name is WSC Foothall Fan, who do you think would win that hypothetical matchup?
I think if they played again, GBW would beat them. That run game is so tough and Hetlet would have experience as a coach in that game over Fitzgerald.

He’s out. Backup is in. Saw Stearney holding throwing hand, shaking something off. Let’s hope it’s not serious.
