Well, you're entitled to your opinion.

But (a) you can't possibly know how everybody thinks, (b) each player has his own way of viewing these things, (c) nobody said a player will form an opinion solely on what they see online, but (d) you cannot argue that there's no value in risking having a negative influence if it can be easily avoided, (e) to an RU recruit, there's nothing "random" about this forum (f) if I wanted to just tell people to shut up, I'd just tell them to shut up; I wouldn't waste time being Machiavellian about it.

But otherwise, I totally agree with everything you said. :D

Yes I was critical based on who was rated and how Orange fans claimed how underrated those three were .
Now it seems like your Orange did a better job since those 3.
Disclaimer: if I knew you only posted link to show how Syracuse was doing ( recruiting-wise) wouldn't have thanked you because your agenda wasn't to show how RU was looking ( recruiting -wise)

Not ego and pride. Common sense. What exactly is going to change with him? What upside is there? He knows the school, knows the coaches, knows that we suck this year. If he wants to come all he had to do was stay committed. Instead he stumped to get a PSU offer, and now gets the opportunity to make a spectacle at our stadium if he decides to commit to PSU, and potentially recruit other kids away from us.

Who knows. He can come to the game wearing a PSU shirt/jersey under his jacket. The NJ media would eat it up. The point is, there is almost no upside to having him at the game at this point. But there is a lot of potential downside. There are other kids out there that want to come to RU and can contribute (looking at you, Darrington and Chukwueneke) let's focus on them.

problem is.. he is one of the 4 best players (if not the best) that you guys are recruiting.. even Bama wouldn't push one of their top 4 kids away.-sg

In addition, it looks like Micah Parsons and Damien Barber are attending RU-PSU along with Shaquon Anderson-Butts. AS RU GUESTS. There is no universe that we reside in that sees Parsons and Barber (PSU commits) flipping to RU. And Anderson-Butts is expected to commit to PSU shortly. Along with Lovett they will all be on the RU sidelines hanging with RU recruits as RU guests.

What is Ash thinking here? I can't think of one positive for RU coming out of this.

yeah, that's a bit odd. I'm pretty sure the same 3 players wanted to attend the Pitt/PSU game in Pittsburgh. Narduzzi told the 3 to pound sand....and weren't allowed to attend even though they had Pitt offers.

You've got to be kidding me. This is just moronic. He realizes these guys are going to be cheering for the wrong team, right?

Hobbs and plenty of other on this board have been begging people not to give up their seats to PSU fans, but Ash is doing it himself.

what matters most is that you identify players that work best for your system and needs. At QB that's easy.. it get's tougher on D, half the great LB's you see in college were DB's in HS. Penn State seems to really want this kid Lovett for their system. Franklin excelled at Vandy b/c he had very specific player requirements as opposed to just getting caught up in a bidding war where Bama and Auburn slipped Jeep Ranger's to prospective recruits to make a splash on newspaper headlines.

BTW.. most of the places have not stayed in biz per se, they have been bot out and downsized on budget and staff--these sights used to be better funded.-sg

a message is not dictating where a kid is going, the product on the field, the relationship with recruiter/coach, playing time/position, and trajectory of the program are what matters.

I think we should split into 3 message boards: One for those to complain about everything from personnel to play calling, coaching, recruiting, fan support, or just plain unhappy (denigrating, mocking, and calling out anyone who disagrees is required).

The second for those that deny reality, just want to cheerlead for, put on the rose-colored glasses because everything is going as planned and looking up (denigrating, mocking, and calling out anyone who disagrees is required).

The 3rd is for those of us that want to diseminate information, ask questions, state opinions, read others' opinion, and debate issues with not having to wade through volumes of hate filled-diatribes. We could have a special moderator who deletes such drivel and ban the poster (just from this particular board).

if you think lovett is better than micah, bo, or fogg, even lewis, tverdov, vretman, or watts (many other commits could be debated as well)...i'm sorry, but you arent that bright

I appreciate Coach Ash's moxie inviting the PSU commits but I really question the thought process. We haven't shown any ability to even slow down the better teams in the league.

its kind of funny how people are always getting so angry and ragging on these recruits.

Think about it - if you had to choose a school - would you trust this staff? what has this staff done to instill any confidence or encouragement? this staff looks lost and so does this program. The worst part is that I think Ash is too pompous to make any changes, esp to his OC. OC has been a disaster and that young man should not be taking that money for the job he is doing. Get back in line man you are 20 something. cut me a break.

Let it go, people will talk about the staff, and the horrible program this year. The kids are already talking about it. They are already hearing from people like you and people like me and everyone in between. The staff needs to do their jobs and look competitive and sell a vision. If they do the class sticks, if they don't it doesn't, and that's their job and paycheck. Not mine.

I'll be chilling 8 Saturdays a year drinking and having a good time whether i'm in a packed stadium or by myself. So whatever, I've stopped caring as much after this debacle this year - let the chips fall where they may.

that same group you just mentioned there.. there is a chance that they never win more than 2 BIG games in any season.. Statistics and past history would show that Ash is done in less than 5 years and you will have to change your board tag.. You must be new to football thinking that you can predict who/where/when will play and how good they will be LOL. As far as brightness, on any metric you want to pick, money, IQ score, experience, whose wife looks better. .I'll take my chances LOL.-sg

Oh snap you totally got me, I'm shaking in my boots. Hey let's talk about sample size. You're pointing to one player as if they're our best recruit. We're gonna have 25 others to compare to lovett down the line. I wonder who ends up being right. The law of chances, if rankings are completely meaningless as you say (which is a load ******** of ********, by the way), are on my side.

As an fyi Micah Clark is the best OL we've gotten since Anthony Davis.

Also I don't have a wife so I'm already winning on that one big-time. Better hope your other factors make up for it. I'm just a pooooor McDonald's burger flipper and not a doctor or anything..based on your wise assumptions. I'm sure you're right on the money though.

Just cause guys like bo and Micah who had Michigan and osu offers would laugh at psu coaches if they approached them right now doesn't mean you should brag that you might be able to flip a kid whose girlfriend who attends psu is doing the real recruiting for Penn state and is the only reason he's probably flipping. The psu presence in nj this year is pathetic considering the history of the psu-nj connection.

Psu wasn't even the best team in PA this year..pitt beat them.

1) There is a chance that they go 5-0 against PSU in that time...There is a chance for everything(there goes your 'brightness' claim
2) What stats and history are you talking about? Ash has a single year of stats and history.
3) aren't you the one doing the predicting? BTW- Lovett would be a big loss. I think he will be a good RB
4) many of us would take our chances too but since 90% of all posters, including you, are anonymous, making that statement just shows a little dick issue you must have.
