...Rutgers and Nebraska will be tough. The both know how to play defense and can play the same game that Illinois did last year and Minnesota did last weekend: The field goal game (we'll kick more than you kick)...that was the essence, apparently, of a conversation between Bielema and Minnesota's coach last summer I saw reported somewhere. (How do you beat Iowa? You Iowa them [play D and scrape together as many points as you can.])

As long as KF keeps trotting Hill out there as a pretend QB, Iowa has an excellent chance to lose every game left on the schedule. And let's be honest here: I hope that's exactly what happens. Ferentz is arrogant and senile. Iowa needs to hire someone from outside the program to breathe new life into the Hawkeyes, someone like Hayden Fry, someone who knows that, to be great and to compete in a single division Big Ten with USC, UCLA, Washington, and Oregon joining, you have to play all three phases of the game . . . and that most certainly includes offense. And you have to have a mobile QB who can complete more than 38 percent of his passes and not fumble the damn ball every time somebody breathes on his neck.

The last four years of Iowa "offense" under KF have turned Iowa into a laughingstock, and justifiably so. The eye test proves it, and so do the numbers. The only ones who can't see it are the only ones who can do anything about it . . . old man Ferentz and his sidekick son. Beth Goetz and the lady pretending to be the president of the university need to do the right thing and encourage KF to retire at the end of the season . . . or just plain fire him. Either way, Ferentz Family Football needs to go out of business in 2023.

Still a lot to play for. Somehow Brian is going to have to find a way to make hill serviceable. Defense coordinators are going to be bringing the pressure. I fear we are going to hill just take snaps and hand it off hope to win 6-3. Ironically that’s exactly what we should have done this last Saturday.
