I’m sorry man. I know what it’s like to lose my last parent. No words I can say to make it better. But hugs. Prayers for you and yours. If you need an ear or place to curse at th eworld we’re here.

Sorry for your loss. My dad is 94 and still driving. My mom passed in 2015.

Hang in there!!!
It’s wild. My grandmother drove up until the day she went into the hospital and then didn’t come out. She was 83. Same with my grandfather.

My great uncle on the other hand hit 65 and went down hill quick. Old age is just a beach.

So sorry for your loss. I don't think the day alignment is chance. My dad and my grandpa passed away on the same day one year apart. I know for certain it was God's way of reminding us that as messed up as things have to be for a while in this fallen world, He's still bringing everything along with good plans to make everything all right in the end for those who trust Him.

Anniversary dates suck. My moms birthday is next Saturday. Not looking forward to it at all.
Hate that for you. I don't know if it's ever a good time and I'm sure some handle it worse than others, but I tell ya I naturally hate dealing with those types of things to begin with, but in the Fall and Winter months it seems like for me it's 100x worse and harder to deal with than in Spring or Summer months.

These gloomy cool days get me halfway feeling the blues alone some days, and then throw something extra hard to deal with on top of it and it feels like stuff can linger on forever and more difficult to get any negative feels off my mind in Fall/Winter. Don't forget to get up and get try to get your mind on something else if it gets that bad.

I am sorry to hear this. If you don't mind me asking, what is your real first name? I'll be praying for you regardless. You've experienced so much loss. There really are no words, sir. You're in my prayers.

I appreciate the advice. I almost didn’t make it through last October. It was bad. Between. Moms birthday and it being after my dog passed? Yeah, that was not fun. SAD doesn’t usually ever bother me. I was born in late fall, hell, it’s practically my element, but last year it hit me like a ton of bricks. Thank God for basketball season last year.

The Father and I wrestle often about the state of our world and why certain things are, He always wins of course, and I know that, but it’s more like I just have to get it out.

The one thing I have to say here is that in times like this, God often seems not only silent but absent. When my mom died, basically making me an adult orphan (which doesn’t mean much but it still hurts like hell from a mental standpoint), He seemed really really distant. And it wasn’t true of course, but it’s just weird how that even God gives you your own space sometimes to work through stuff sometimes.

My sincerest condolences. We just buried my dad last Wednesday, and my mom also in 2020. Pap hadn't been happy since, really. Sad day for the ones left behind, but a happy reunion for the folks.

Sorry to hear that 😞 I got my Kentucky fandom from my Dad (a UK game replay was literally on in the delivery room) so I never had a rivalry with him like that, but any genuine interaction with them like that, same team or rivals, is something special that many people wish they had.

So sorry for your loss. I know the pain. I lost mine when I was 20. It sounds like you had a wonderful life with him.

Very sorry to hear this. Prayers for you and your family. I lost my dad to brain cancer when he was just 50. Unfortunately I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer last October. I’ll be 60 this coming Saturday. So like him, my time is running short at a relatively young age. It sucks but that’s life.

UK basketball is a vehicle for many things, and one of them is creating lifelong memories with family and loved ones. I'm sorry to read about your loss, and I hope your pops won more of the UK-UofL 'arguments' than he lost.
