apparently because the younger generation is incapable of reading stats and researching data and would prefer to just make generalized statements off the top of their head

Over the last decade, millennial sports fans have contributed to a decrease in live TV ratings and attendance at live events – instead opting for highlights, web analysis, podcasts, or other media they can consume for free.

Except my question wasn’t just about your remark about selling out rupp.

I guess it cyclical then. The Greatest Generation crapped all over us when we are the new guys on the block.

We survived the Spanish Flu, We lived thru the depression, We saved the world from Nazis!

Enough already! I'm trying to play Atari pong here old man

If the internet had existed in the 50's there would have been similar fiery debates about allowing black people to play basketball at UK, attend all schools. sit at restaurant counters and drink out of water fountains.
The "I hate Cal and UK basketball now because they kneeled to draw attention to police brutality" crowd are on the wrong side of history.
And if you think their aren't police who still abuse black people in some communities, look no further than the Capitol police officers wearing MAGA hats and taking selfies with the terrorists that stormed the Capitol building.
Do you really believe if BLM had gathered by the thousands with guns, bombs, zip ties, ropes and BLM flags that they would have breached the Capitol without receiving any gun fatalities before they even entered? Think again.
Ya just don't wanna see it....any more than you wanna see that Trump is a narcissistic pathological liar who lost the election fair and square.
Unfortunately, most of our state has joined his nutty cult.

Didn’t watch last night, didn’t watch Louisville game. In 66 years I have rarely missed a game. Cal has destroyed the culture of Kentucky basketball. When the virus is over we can return to Memorial for games. It will most likely have more than enough seats as long as we have Cal as coach. 60-70% of loyal fans from Jenkins and Pikeville to Monkeys Eyebrow are finished with left wing Cal.
Three true beacons of enlightenment.

I don’t think fans made it political to start with. The current political Climate in this country and our coach’s own words have done that. Sports are what we enjoy to get AWAY from that ****. Fans don’t ever try to mix the two. As the great Althea Flynt once said, no one wants their religion and porn mixed. And no one wants their sports and their politics mixed either. If that makes me an “old” or whatever, so be it. The olds are what fill the $ seats in Rupp.
Althea Flynt may not be correct in this instance. religion and porn mix together quite nicely....it's called "As* F**kin

Dude that’s a WHOLE different conversation for real. But my original point stands. Ppl don’t want what they LIKE and what they BELIEVE n mixed. One is always an escape from the other.

My interest is solely to see what Allen does.

The rest of the roster doesn’t make it can’t miss game day.

Still watching, but everything outside of the game itself is take it or leave it.

You lost interest but you took the time to make a thread on a UK basketball forum.

If 70% of our fans have lost interest because of a bad year then screw em, they weren't really fans anyway. Jesus, last year we were a 2 seed. I'd bet most lost interest because the racists don't want to kids peacefully protesting injustice. But hey, that's just me (and the rest of the country outside of KY).

I guess the idea that people with opposing views politically can sit side by side at a game and both cheer for their favorite sports team because sports was politically agnostic is gone.

Well it's debatable who caused that trouble, but lets assume you're right.

Protesting getting shot for no reason when you're unarmed, or having a knee on your neck after you're subdued even if it involved some violence is totally different than trying to overthrow a democratic election, saying you're going to hang the vice president, breaking into the capitol and raiding congressional offices.

The trumpions can try to equate the two, but it's a non starter. Treason is much worse, period.

Serious question, why does your generation deflect blame for ur inadequacies onto older generations and act like y’all invented the wheel and we r too stupid to use it? That **** goes both ways.
and I agree with your original point. you introduced religion and porn to the discussion. I just pointed out that religion and porn both enjoy a good *ss f**king.

He took the time to make a thread because while he has lost interest he hasn’t lost his love for UK sports. Fans haven’t lost interest because of a bad year. That’s a lazy reply. And most here aren’t tryna bring politics or racism into any of this....that’s UR view and UR perception. call KY racists all u want but we have some the nicest, salt of the earth ppl here n the world who give no fks about the color of anyone’s skin. But it’s an easy argument to call us racists. Again, most of us fans aren’t bringing that **** in here. Our issues with KY bball have nothing to do with racism. Y’all gonna have to find a better argument cuz that **** is tired and played the fk out.

That's an easy question, if you're talking about progressives and socialists. The younger generations (and especially progressives and socialists) do that because they have not a single original idea. Every social justice cause, every single one, was originally propounded in the late 50s and early 60s. The socialists have the same issue in spades-- remember that Bernie took his Russian honeymoon during the height of the cold war, and he did that to garner support for US communism. Bernie is a true prog/socialist/communist hero.
So, when things go wrong, the younger generations can rightfully say "Hey it's not our fault. These aren't our ideas, we're just parroting and imitating." And that is correct, they are just parroting and yipping (is it a mixed metaphor to refer to 2 different species of small animals?). If you can stand back a 100 feet, this is all kinda funny to hear people saying, in effect, "I'm Woke. I done Woked up to a bunch of 60-year-old ideas. I'm morally righteous and bester and more superior that eberbody else."
The good news is that the monthly Gallup poll has regularly put those identifying as Dems and Reps at 30% each and independents at 40%. (https://news.gallup.com/poll/15370/party-affiliation.aspx) Our resident Castro and Kruschev (Bernie and AOC) claim that they are entitled to more cabinet seats because the progs and socialists make up 35% of the Dem party. In this instance only, I take them at their word, which means that progs and socialists are 10% of the populatiion (35% of 30%). That's about the same as the 1930s. The only difference today is that the media is 90% prog and socialist, so this tiny minority has a voice that sounds more like 30% than 10%.
That’s a helluva an answer and makes a lot of sense. admittedly I was just responding to an entitled lil **** who responded with “what?” But u went above and beyond. Thanx. I learned something useful today.

Oh look...Another political post disguised as a basketball related thread. You could have made the same exact statement without the political agenda.
YES ! Disaffection for Calipari on this board has two completely separate aspects - his basketball coaching on the one hand, and his politics on the other. I'm not interested in reading a discussion about Calipari's politics. I think he's the best recruiter in college basketball, and I think he's an average, run-of-the-mill quality basketball coach ... and I think there's ample evidence over the years to support that proposition. And, frankly, I think that a great percentage of RR posters are incapable of separating their animosity toward Calipari's politics from their thoughts about his coaching ability - or lack thereof.

That sums up my feelings.I don't give a **** what his politics are I just want Cal to update his offense and start recruiting with the thought of having more players stick around.

Slightly OT, but I’ve seen several people in this thread and others use the phrase...

“when Covid is over...”

Let me break it to you, since apparently you didn’t hear it from the very mouths of the people running the “virus” show, and I quote,

“Covid is never going away, and you’re never going back to “normal”. Their words, not mine!

These psychopaths said “jump!”, and 95% of you said, “how high?” They are never letting go of the control you gave them over you! Hence,

NEW NORMAL!
