"actually" this issue of preferential treatment goes back years and is systemic within the athletic department

the training table issue is well known among the VB team - and has its roots back in Aug 2020 (C19) when the training table was closed and then reopened to one of the worst power 5 college football teams in existence but closed to the premier VB program ... the VB team drags the FB program privately amongst themselves all the time

it's why the tweet was centered around the training table and why Strivins is involved as she was a team member in 2020

but keep pretending this is an isolated incident
Again, if it’s the football teams budget, why is this an issue to you?

If we are talking about one week with (gasp) no training table for the other sports who DIDN’T pay for the training table, why make a mountain out of a mole hill? I see only one person on this crusade.

Wait… are you Laura Stivrins? Cuz that would explain a lot!

The football team got prefferential treatment at a blueblood university that has the longest sell-out streak in history. Shocking. Were the volleyball players under the impression they would be top dogs on campus since they were good and the football team wasn't? If so they need a reality check.

Actually, the more to the story is that the training table was closed for repairs and the football team paid for the food from their own budget. I guess the football team should have paid for the food for everyone, huh? That would have been the only fair thing to do.

But thank you for your attempt at trolling yet again.
If the football team had invited the volleyball team out for breakfast, it would’ve been a lot easier for them to sexually harass them on that particular day.

Why not have the football team pay for the volleyball’s breakfast? Not like they earned it. Not like they have returned anything to the fans that pay for the program. Nothing but **** is all they give us. Hope followed by ****. Want harsh truth, that’s harsh truth. And until Rhule does something about it, that’s the way it is.

And if you think the tweet was only about breakfast, I can’t help you. VB is frustrated that football gets all the love (justified or not) and sucks, while they are actually good and don’t get the same

Volleyball players better transfer somewhere where people don't care about football.

I can understand the attention piece but I don’t think another VB team in the country gets more support than the Huskers so maybe they should compare themselves to other D1 VB teams instead of the football teams. To keep it apples to apples. But let’s be honest regardless of success there are sports that will bring in more money, more fans, and more notoriety than other sports. Football is perched on the top of that hierarchy for college sports. Without the football program they wouldn’t have the facilities and some of the other luxuries they have, which is also a harsh truth.

Nobody is going to disagree the football team has sucked - her calling that out is not what people are condemning.

Well, sure, football could’ve paid for the breakfast for volleyball. But you’re missing the point. It’s the football budget. They don’t have to. And volleyball shouldn’t be pissed off because football paid for the breakfast and didn’t include them. I don’t get this notion that football should’ve Offered it to them freely. They could have, but they didn’t have to. This is a non-story.

You think volleyball doesn't get love at Nebraska? Nowhere else on earth do volleyball players get more love.

I think @Redmich should have bought them all a couple boxes of pop tarts. That way I wouldn't have to listen to 5 pages of his whining about misogynistic athletic departments.😒

Or the people who were in charge of effectively communicating the training table schedule variation could have actually done their jobs. Perhaps this volleyball day in America is just too big of a logistic undertaking if they can’t even handle the routine day to day management of the program
JFC you sound like a real douchebag. Are you this way in real life or is it just your message board persona?

I demonstrably state my opinions, which usually wind up on the happy side of the ledger

dismiss them due to wording at your own peril
I generally do. Just on occasion does it feel a little extra. You’re good.

Was on a flight to seattle recently. Many masks present.

Flight attendant had to repeat instructions to remove paper masks before using oxygen in case of cabin pressure loss, not put oxygen masks over their own.

Needless to say, I was chuckling loudly.
Covid aside…I wish masks were still worn on planes(or at least by the people always hacking), and that the stewardesses still gave out wipes. Those capsules are cesspools. Sincerely a frequent flier, non-germaphobe, but with family w/autoimmune issues, and one w/cancer.

Ps- Going to Seattle I doubt they all faced similar situations, but there are reasons people are careful that aren’t remnants of the pandemic

The “more to the story” is that multiple VB team members have been pissed about the differential treatment the athletes have received since being on campus the entire summer. The training table incident was just another example.
No current player wisely wanted the whistleblower retaliation that would predictability take place within the athletic dept, program and fanbase - so they collectively took a pic and sent it to Stivrins who agreed to be their voice and sent the intentionally worded text that multiple current VB composed and agreed to

But thank you for your attempt at mansplaining the situation
Some times ‘their’ reason for being pissed is a bunch of crap. Sure, sometimes it’s legitimate. This was wasn’t the latter.

I think they often act like entitled, mostly affluent kids. VBers are so privileged at Neb, damn near rock star status…and arguably the only place in the world where they are so fawned over.

BS, they get more than anywhere else on the planet for playing a sport that is cared about in about 4 or 5 places.

Also, you’re talking about mostly affluent kids that can afford crazy club travel for years… and you’re saying despite free education, NIL, uncommon adoration that they can’t buy or fix themselves breakfast?

Give it a rest

Could have probably avoided all the drama if someone in charge had just said, "Ladies, this is a catered meal specifically for the football team. But if you want to grab a little something, go ahead."

Doubt if it would have put much of a dent in the football budget. Good common sense solution.

Nailed it. They are currently doing the heavy, lifting to represent us in the big 10. They are great, and we love them, but please know your place. Football is king and always will be football is the rainmaker.

Then the soccer team would have questioned why they weren't invited. And so on. It would never stop. Catering to whiners doesn't pay.

That's why you make it clear it's a football team meal, but give them some yogurt and a muffin and send them on their way. I really doubt that would have sent the Athletic Department careening down some super-scary slippery slope.

I am not sure the Athletics Department is careening down a slippery slope. This will be forgotten by the public by tomorrow when Rhule speaks in Indy, if not before. Hell, I bet 90% of the population in Nebraska even know about it.

Especially now that the tweet was deleted.

Agree. I was referring to the notion that if a couple of VB players walked away happy with a little bit of food, the football program would suddenly be obligated to feed the masses.

Rhule would of course have to ask Cook to keep it on the down low. No cameras please.
