Which problems within the state of Mississippi will it solve? Do you really think this will make people from the north east and west coast view people from MS as anything other than backwoods rednecks? It’ll make us look less like a bunch of backwoods inbred hicks instantly because we got rid of the confederate flag, but go off king.

I'm not really sure you understand how the rest of the world views our flag.
But you can bet your sweet *** it's different than how our grandaddies told us we should feel about it.
There is no reason to wait for November. The legislature should do their jobs, do what's right, and fix it now.
One side argues that it is part of our history and culture. The other side sees it as a hate symbol.

I do not care at all what other people think. I want to change the flag because it's the right thing to do for all MISSISSIPPI'S citizens (not other state's citizens). It’ll make us look less like a bunch of backwoods inbred hicks instantly because we got rid of the confederate flag, but go off king.
It is a shame that the flag has such a negative connotation. Take all meaning aside, it is a cool looking flag that is unique. Symbols change meanings all the time throughout history. Too bad it was hijacked by hate groups (KKK/neo nazi’s/etc).
I am squarely on the fence with this issue. I understand both sides of the argument. One side argues that it is part of our history and culture. The other side sees it as a hate symbol. While not as extreme as a swastika (national flag of fascists that millions died through genocide under, ultimately WWII and 52 million dead), I’ve seen comparisons being made to that. Would we want a swastika on our flag? The other side would counter that it is not intended to be a hate symbol.
Like others have mentioned. I don’t think it’s going to make much difference either way.
Too soon. Having a vote now is risky. Very good chance it doesn't pass now. That would look even worse. Better not have the vote if you don't know for sure it will pass.
