Hey 'Cats,

We've been downgraded this year to the golf course lot from our usual spot in the East Lot. Wanted to reach out and see if someone has an east lot pass they aren't planning to use that we could buy or trade for.

Getting excited for football to return!

Go 'Cast!

With the attendace the past few years, how can anyone be downgraded with parking?

If I recall the propaganda correctly, last year anyone who flipped the $600 got east/west lot. This year you needed to flip the $600 plus have 600ish points.

I really think the fiasco with the parking the last 3 yrs. Has hurt attendance.

The golf course has its merits.

Julia indicated to me that would not be enough. Her hints to me were more points and more coin.

That is the problem. You don't know how much to pay for what? You get better customer service at a flea market in Tijuana. My dad asked for a pocket schedule with his order and they sent him one from 2010.

The plight is the same each year. What was good enough for east lot last year was not good enough this year.

It's looking like we'll just tough it out in the golf course lot and see how it goes. Just frustrating that they milked the increased donation out of us (as well as a few extra tickets for the second parking pass) in advance before we found out that we were nowhere near the correct lot level.

If seat fees in the new W-R go to the general excellence fund (and thus count towards parking), next year's cutoffs will be a real crapshoot.

It's not in NU's best interest to disclose exactly what's needed so they can (theoretically) coax more people to donate at higher levels to "ensure" preferred parking.

(Not saying I think this is a great system nor the best way to "do right" by longstanding fans, just explaining where the school is coming from as I see it.)

As someone who walks to the games - usually from Isabella - I'm astounded by how empty the West Lot is. It just doesn't make sense to me. I see everyone bemoaning their lot assignments, but is there really more demand than supply?

It is puzzling. I often wonder why even in the marquee games there are hundreds of empty spaces as I drag my cooler from the golf course lot.

It's just greed that causes all of that empty space but give $6,000 and your in.

Since we run one of the bigger tailgates, we've had long conversations with the university about what can be done to increase the quality of tailgating and game day atmosphere around the stadium. The university made it VERY clear that they value donations over any sort of game day atmosphere, with no exception or flexibility.

It would be neat if they would create a parking area for people who just want to park and encourage a stronger tailgating scene. However, it's clear that even with these upgraded concessions, gameday experience is lower on the pecking order for them.

To be fair though, NU fans are a fickle group (this board aside) and will turn their backs on the program if we start to suck.

Ironically, I gave at the $1500 level for a few years to get an "express pass" into the west lot before the new scheme which let me donate less and still get in due to the accumulation of points. When even $600 plus the years of giving aren't enough, I think I'll be through with donating.

That will happen soon, I'm afraid. Maybe like next season when the ND and Michigan fandom take over the parking lots, not to mention the stadium.
