We said it couldn't get worse after Mike Riley, and it got worse. Riley at least made it to a bowl once.

Somewhat correct.

What would have been worse is for us to have squeaked out a couple of these crappy performances and split the fanbase on whether we should have cleaned house or not.

Crapping our pants repeatedly with a 6 game losing streak to end the season removes all doubt as to what the next step is
