I’m driving the liquor store delivery van on Ocean Ave. in Belmar, NJ, stuck in traffic as the drawbridge is up. Hot as hell, windows down blasting this song, beach to the right of me and bars to the left. And these lines that I’ve heard and sung a thousand times before hit me square between the eyes. I am the guy in the song. I can see the girls in the beach (not a bad way to spend time stuck in traffic, mind you) and I’m just sitting in traffic. That made this forever my favorite summer song.
