Any qb should make that throw. Anyhow..... Glad to see he is playing, but lets not pretend that's D1 ball.
Not trying to make things more/less than what they are, but every QB on our roster can make that throw. Every RB on our roster could make that throw. Heck, even our much-maligned LT could make that throw.
Seemed like a good kid. Good kid to have as a backup. I was scared to death every time he touched the ball that he was going to turn it over. I don't get that feeling with Haarberg.
Started 3/12 rotating at QB with Webb. Brought them back in the second half. 4 TDs and a longish 2 pt conversion pass to send it to OT. He also lost a fumble on a strip sack. Looked very good on zone read options. Had some nice runs. Eluded the rush and made a nice running throw to the back of the endzone. He would have been a nice backup to have but he’s playing for a guy who has put QBs in the league. Oh yeah he also had a 16 yard TD run. 4 passing TDs. A passing 2 pt conversion and a TD run. He did throw a couple of ducks.

Is that an FCS game? Or did they start in D1 now?

Given the number of hits our QBs are taking and how shallow the bullpen is, Smothers would be nice to have on the bench this fall
Agree with that but no way would I feel comfortable with him being our starter all year.
Good for Smothers. His transfer made sense and now he gets to ball out at the appropriate level for him.
Probably has to do with playing the very bottom levels of FBS defenses ( conference USA) and not going against Big Ten teams
