Sounds like he could be the backup to AM2 this year. He had a couple ugly passes in the spring game but I thought he looked good otherwise. Hopefully he has a ‘fast blinker’, minimizes turnovers and can distribute the ball well.
It’s been pointed out that his weakness is arm strength.. As of now he may have better knowledge of the offense, but once Harrberg grasps the playbook better I think he will be the backup..Sounds like he could be the backup to AM2 this year. Haarberg might have a stronger arm but I have reservations about his accuracy. It’s still early but I’ve heard accuracy is one of the harder things for a QB to fix. Also I think they might hold him back until next year unless there is a real crisis so he has more time to learn the system. It’s been pointed out that his weakness is arm strength.. Yeah, and you can't really fix arm strength. It’s been pointed out that his weakness is arm strength.. As of now he may have better knowledge of the offense, but once Harrberg grasps the playbook better I think he will be the backup..
Accuracy was a real problem for Josh Allen, but somehow he's gotten better. Hopefully a few sessions with the good professor will get him coached up. Physically he's got the goods. Does he have the brains and instincts?Haarberg might have a stronger arm but I have reservations about his accuracy. Who needs a professor when you have a wizard like we do in Coach VerduzcoAccuracy was a real problem for Josh Allen, but somehow he's gotten better. Hopefully a few sessions with the good professor will get him coached up. Physically he's got the goods. Does he have the brains and instincts?
I think you can, actually. Super easy, barely an inconvenienceYeah, and you can't really fix arm strength.
I think we're talking about the same guy. Technician, wizard, Mastermind, evil genius. They all fit.Who needs a professor when you have a wizard like we do in Coach Verduzco
Put in a guy with a stronger arm? Arm strength fixed!I think you can, actually. Super easy, barely an inconvenience
We've got the perfect quarterback on our roster. The problem is that the components are split among three different players.Put in a guy with a stronger arm? Arm strength fixed!
Add in Mcaffrey and the qb recruiting past 3 cycles is a big wtf imoYeah, and you can't really fix arm strength.
Fauci?I think we're talking about the same guy. Technician, wizard, Mastermind, evil genius. They all fit.
Stupid McCaffrey effect. So you're telling me we can put the brother of Christian McCaffrey under center? Slam dunk. Problem is we were looking at the wrong McCaffrey. We should have evaluated the many accomplishments of Dylan instead before making our decision. Anyone know who we missed out on by taking McCaffrey instead?Add in Mcaffrey and the qb recruiting past 3 cycles is a big wtf imo
Dylan was older and had committed to Michigan… So there you go..Stupid McCaffrey effect. So you're telling me we can put the brother of Christian McCaffrey under center? Slam dunk. Smothers said. "I mean, I've got the best quarterbacks’ coach in the country so I'm confident in him and he gets us ready each and every day and helps us a ton."Sounds like he could be the backup to AM2 this year. No.... Follow along. Dylan sucked as a quarterback and Luke will likely suck as quarterback. The Old Man and the older brother succeeded as wide receivers and running backs. That is the trajectory his football career probably should have followedDylan was older and had committed to Michigan… So there you go..
is there a smothers brother? (had to)No.... Follow along. Dylan sucked as a quarterback and Luke will likely suck as quarterback. The Old Man and the older brother succeeded as wide receivers and running backs. That is the trajectory his football career probably should have followed
Defending us was easy. The defensive play call was defend the Smurf and the quarterback will take off running. 50% chance he will fumble, so be be prepared for that. Ready? Break.is there a smothers brother? (had to)
Haarberg/Torres are the future. if smothers is the backup this year, it's only because the offense will be undergoing a full blown overhaul in the offseason to accommodate an actual quarterback moving forward.
our upside will rise dramatically the second the QB draw is no longer our most effective play on 3rd and medium/long.
I am excited to see the offense in 2 weeks, especially in the red zone/on 3rd down.Defending us was easy. The defensive play call was defend the Smurf and the quarterback will take off running. 50% chance he will fumble, so be be prepared for that. Ready? Break.
Get all the way off his back please.I think you can, actually. Super easy, barely an inconvenience
Dylan wasn’t all that bad, he had a injury that set him back in Ann Arbor.. The problem was Verduzzco and Frost not finding a QB who can throw first and run second…No.... Follow along. Dylan sucked as a quarterback and Luke will likely suck as quarterback. The Old Man and the older brother succeeded as wide receivers and running backs. But can't stop anyone when its needed.I am excited to see the offense in 2 weeks, especially in the red zone/on 3rd down.
the defense has been the most consistently improved phase since Frost joined (Chinander = good?).
please, for the love of all that is holy, do not let them embarrass us on special teams.
last year, we lost 5 gamesBut can't stop anyone when its needed.
Our red zone offense sucks . PeriodThe only way we will win is to score more points than the team we are playing. It's that simple.
No. Just get the ball back when its needed.last year, we lost 5 games
OSU - blowout
NW - game ended when offense couldn't score when it was needed
ILL - blowout
iowa - game ended on back to back fumbles by our special teams/quarterback at midfield
minn - game ended when offense couldn't score when it was needed
would it be better if the defense never allowed any points? sure.
is the defense the reason we lose more than we win? I don't think so.
in 3 of our 5 losses last year, the only ones by one possession, the defense got the ball back down by a touchdown or less at the end of the game and the offense couldn't get it done.No. Just get the ball back when its needed.
If the offense didnt score. Unless there was a kneel down. They had a chance to get a stop. And they aren't good at that.
Our TE’s will change that big time (Wait hold on, being told too 3 TE’a are hurt and we moved a DL and 2 WRs to TE)Our red zone offense sucks . Period
Not only that, but the inability of the offense to sustain drives and the frequent turnovers increases the time the defense has to be on the field, which increases the probability the other team will score. I'm not an "expert" but IMHO the defense is a far distant third after the offense and special teams for the cause of losing games.in 3 of our 5 losses last year, the only ones by one possession, the defense got the ball back down by a touchdown or less at the end of the game and the offense couldn't get it done.
the defense got the stops. we lost anyway due to our impotence on offense.
AM has led one single 4th quarter comeback in his 3-year career at NU (2019 vs ILL). we have lost 10+ games by one possession in that same span.

I suspect Smothers passing is really coming along from comments made by Frost today and Verducco on Wednesday. If this is so, I think Smothers can become a solid starter at some point in the future.Sounds like he could be the backup to AM2 this year. Teams led by run-first quarterbacks have a much lower ceiling than teams led by pass-first quarterbacks.I suspect Smothers passing is really coming along from comments made by Frost today and Verducco on Wednesday. He reminds me of TM in his development. I believe his footspeed is special, as was TM's, and that he is capable of becoming at least as good a passer as TM. And like TM. he would force defenses to have to account for him.
It wouldn't be the worst of scenarios to have a TM like QB in Frost's offense in the future.
I'm not so sure that they recruited McCaffrey just based on him being a QB. The kid has game changing athleticism and if you can get that, you take it. I think they probably should have taken 2 QBs in that class and that became obvious after Gebbia left.No.... Follow along. Dylan sucked as a quarterback and Luke will likely suck as quarterback. The Old Man and the older brother succeeded as wide receivers and running backs. That is the trajectory his football career probably should have followed
Remember when the talk was that we wanted to play aggressive D so that we could get the ball back asap and get it to our explosive O.in 3 of our 5 losses last year, the only ones by one possession, the defense got the ball back down by a touchdown or less at the end of the game and the offense couldn't get it done.

rank each unit, from first to worst. You disagree with Defense, Offense, Special Teams? No. Just get the ball back when its needed.
If the offense didnt score. Unless there was a kneel down. They had a chance to get a stop. And they aren't good at that.
I'd love to see one of the reporters ask Frost if that is still the planRemember when the talk was that we wanted to play aggressive D so that we could get the ball back asap and get it to our explosive O.
