Horrible story written by Politi about this former walk on (2012 or thereabouts) in today's LEDGER. Is in a Mexican prison charged with murdering a prostitute in Tijuana. Was pretty messed up before that. The walk on thought he had an NBA career and transferred out after a year.

A couple times during halftime walking by or after the game, I put up a couple shots at The RAC. I am a former Rutgers basketball player as much as this guy .
Politi wrote a pretty good piece wow. This is dateline NBC stuff.

You really have to wonder if he went to Rider, Stockton, NJIT, Rowan, etc. if this article would have seen the light of day.
SMH at this thread. It was an outstanding, compelling piece of journalism and we get one guy who feels it's necessary to let everyone know that he's too cheap to support it and another whose reaction is to see this as an attempted hit job on Rutgers by association. Good lord. Hope Politi doesn't read this thread. Everything he went through including risking his physical safety to investigate it and this is what we get on this message board.

I posted about the article on the football board. Just don't see the need to have in the headline, "Former RU athlete" as the lead.

Steve p goes hot and cold on his coverage of Rutgers in my book...but that is a pretty good piece of investigative journals He wrote there .....
Didn’t read the article but characterizes the article as a hit job. Not wildly irrational at all.
I gave the article a read and was super impressed. We can hate on Steve all you want, but I doubt many of you are traveling into Tijuana to investigate a crazy murder. Even crazier figuring out who Logan meant to kill that night. Kudos to Steve on this.
Politi primarily covers New Jersey with Rutgers being the largest University in the State. You expect him to not reference Logan Kelley as a former player at RU to grab a few extra readers? Logan Kelley is a degenerate nut job. His being a walk on on the BB team in no way casts any negative aspersion towards Rutgers. I'm sure that if Logan went to SHU, Politi's headline would have included SHU.
Also, it may very well be different with online articles these days, but anyone that knows anything about newspapers knows that the reporters don't write the headlines.
