Not a fan of Moose Drool. You can't go wrong with anything Kinkaider though. I am in the Omaha/Sarpy area so you should go check out Kros Strain and Pint 9 if in the Papillion area. Nebraska Brewing has a restaurant nearby in Shadow Lake and their taproom even nearer at 108th/Harrison which has a ton of really good beer on tap.

Boiler brewing and White Elm in Lincoln are the two best Nebraska breweries I’ve had. Boiler makes a lot of different beers that have mostly been very good. White elm makes great stouts. If you like ipa’s, look for toppling Goliath in stores. From Decorah Iowa. They’re a world class brewery.

Nebraska Brewing makes probably the best Hefeweizen I have ever had that isn't German, and that is saying something (EOS Hef). Kros Strain makes excellent beer, but it's annoying that they charge 10-12 bucks a six pack. I haven't had Pint 9 yet, but I hear they are very good, too.

As for the state beers as a whole, I think Zipline makes excellent beers, Empyrean has always been good (though they don't really make a beer that I'm wild about, I kind of got burned out on their Scotch Ale, Burning Skye), and I absolutely love Kinkaider's Dan the Wiser Kolsch. Oh, and Thunderhead is great too, the Goldenfrau beer is super tasty. Next time I'm not doing anything in Lincoln, I really want to try that Boiler Room place; I hear its very good and their beers are very different.

The only one I really want to try but haven't yet is Scratchtown. You can't get it in Omaha, but my friends and I are going camping right down the highway from Ord over Memorial Day and I figure I can spend an evening getting familiar with their tap room one of the two evenings we're there!

For other Midwest beers, Bells, Toppling Goliath, and Millstream are excellent, and of course, the king of all beers in my mind is New Glarus Brewery outside of Madison, WI. They make, hands down, the best beer I have ever had. They just refuse to ever sell it outside of the state border of Wisconsin, which is both funny and also very frustrating.

Oh and for all of the Metro area residents who read this, give Upstream another try; two of my friends are the co-brewers there. One has been doing it for years, the other trained at Smog City in LA, and they have really helped Upstream "up" their game. They made a Blood Orange Witbier last summer that knocked my socks off.

Toppling Goliath we get almost everthing from them except for their whale stouts like KBBS, Assassin, Morning Delight and other ticket buying beers. We do get all kinds of their IPA/DIPA bombers here, and Pompeii 4 Packs

I never used to be a fan of beers with fruit in them, but I found Lucky Bucket's Tropic Wonder (mango and habanero) to be good - though not as good as Kinkaider's Devils Gap.

Not speaking for anyone's style, but when I bash a brewery like I did with Empyrian it's because when I drink a "Porter" I am expecting it to have "Porter" characteristics. Their porters tastes like a lager with dirty malt, and don't match what they advertise. I can say that, because I have had 100's of porters and have a lot to compare it to.

I have a friend that loves empyrian, I just don't think they know what they are doing.

Note: My favorite style is barrel aged imperial stouts. I do love a good IPA on a hot day though too

I had that at one of the jerk chicken shacks down there. It's pretty good. I think when I looked in awhile back its only distributed to a few places along the east coast.

I like any beer from Bayern Brewing in Missoula much better than anything Big Sky makes. In the summer Bayern's Dump Truck an extra pale summer bock is one of my go-to beers. Their Oktoberfest is pretty good as well. Missoula is a pretty cool town. Denny Washington, a self made billionaire, construction and buying the copper mine in Butte got him rolling, is a big benefactor of the U of Montana. He built the Grizzilies a pretty nice football stadium.

I have always considered Focal Banger a Pale Ale (Like Pseudo Sue at 6.8%) I could be wrong, but I don't know many DIPA's at 7%

Both wrong...Focal is a IPA. Heady is a DIPA. Not that it matters. It's a blurry spectrum from strong pale ale to weak DIPA. For instance, Treehouse seems to use 7.5% as the cutoff between IPA and DIPA. But i know there are a lot of IPA's out there in that same range. Then you start including session IPA's having to fit in there somewhere...and I've pretty much given up on trying to classify them and just keep track of the ABV. The NEIPAs will sneak up on you and kick your ***. Too drinkable at times. Especially at $4-6 a pop.

I generally get my beer at Ralphs or Trader Joe’s and opt for Trumer Pils, a Modern Times rotational, Angel City’s IPA or pils, Lagunitas’ IPA or Pils, or Sculpin as far as the local stuff goes. Usually depends on how much I want to spend. I don’t recall seeing any of the beers you listed there.
