I was born, raised, and lived the first 30 years of my life in Virginia, which is topographically similar to NC with the mountains, Piedmont and the Tidewater regions, and steeped in history. When I moved to upper East TN and lived for 26 years before retiring to south Florida, we spent a lot of time in WNC, hiking, and sampling all of the offerings of the Asheville and Boone areas a couple of times a month.I love it here. And as someone who once lived in Lexington, I imagine most Kentucky residents would also enjoy visiting NC. There is no culture shock between the 2 states. There are a ton of things to do. I routinely see UK flags and gear at the NC beaches.
